Image copyright problem with Image:Mark_Ashley-Chiseled.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Mark_Ashley-Chiseled.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 13:10, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Peter North's Penis Size edit

  • "Considering that the average woman's head is close to 8 inches in length from chin to hairline..."
    • I'm 6'3" tall, and my head - from chin to hairline - is 7 1/2". In fact, as a veteran who's worn plenty of gas masks, I can tell you I usually wore a LARGE, whereas most guys wore MEDIUMS. And the M40 et al gas masks are based on that precise measurement - length of one's face.
  • "Please see Peter North's discussion page for additional commentary, especially my notes concerning the statistics of human penis size..."
    • I did precisely this, AND THEN referred you to the Wikipedia article on penis size, wherein it describes in detail how to accurately measure a man's penis - not the fantasy-porno-world "real measurement times 2" figures that led so many to call Ron Jeremy 13" and John Holmes 16". Ridiculous.

Image:Mark Ashley-TS8-Screencap.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Mark Ashley-TS8-Screencap.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 16:01, 18 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Munich edit

Would you like to help out at WikiProject Munich? Kingjeff 08:45, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate the offer, but I'm afraid my German isn't very good.
Solcis 08:59, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

You don't need to know German. There are many ways you can help out. Kingjeff 09:00, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't think I would be a good candidate, since I've never traveled to Munich and I my knowledge of the city is very limited. At the same time, however, I do have a friend who's gone there many times. Both of his parents are German. I will definitely let him know about WikiProject Munich. I'm not sure how well versed he is with Wikipedia, but I will do my best to get him up to snuff. I'll get back to you...
Solcis 09:09, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Maybe your good buddy has some photos of Munich he could let you upload. Remember Wikipedia doesn't allow origunal research anyways. So, you don't need first hand knowledge of Munich. 13:06, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Jake_Steed-LWCBBMD3-Screencap.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Garion96 (talk) 22:27, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
