Thomasine Church a proper name

The Roman Catholic Church, Malankara Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church, Syriac Orthodox Church, Antiochian Orthodox Church and the Thomasine Church are all proper names of distinct ecclesiastical jurisdictions. As such the page, Thomasine Church is actually mislabeled.

What time period they were created is always up for debate. Many of the Each one of these churches comes with its own historical baggage and none can claim ecclesiastical superiority over the other. Ecclesiastical jurisdictions are in a constant flux of birth, life, and death. This is evidenced by the coming and goings of many of the St. Thomas Christian churches of India and elsewhere. So if a jurisdiction was created in 32AD, 325AD, 1867AD, or 1967AD it really doesn’t matter. To many orthodox and catholic jurisdictions, what matters is Apostolic Succession. This is all that is required to make their episcopal authority and thereby all of their sacraments valid. Considering that the Thomasine Church is in possession of all Apostolic Succession’s extant I don’t see the problem with this church or it being added on Wikipedia.

Uncle G does not seem to be privy to Apostolic authority and is also a bit behind in his view of a fixity of the ecclesiastical species. There has never been nor ever will be a constant in any of them. --AnDruidh 16:36, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Redirect appropriate?

Is this redirect really quite appropriate? It caused me some confusion when following a reference in Book of Thomas the Contender to a "Thomasine Church" using some of the Nag Hammadi library stuff as part of its canon... Brennen 23:22, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Checking

This article was apparantly deleted because "Anyone can create a website regarding their own religious views, or those of a small group with whom they are associated".

It would be nice if someone had actually checked the subject properly before voting on a subject of which they clearly knew nothing. The "Thomasine Church" refers to a large and significant group of Christians based in India, commonly calling themselves the Mar Thoma Christians or, fully translating, Saint Thomas Christians. • Ahem! Before accusing other editors in this way, you should actually do some checking yourself, in particular checking what the original article was actually about, by reading the AFD discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thomasine Church) and the church's web site hyperlinked therein. It wasn't about the Saint Thomas Christians at all. For starters, the church discussed in the original article was founded by its self-styled "patriarch", born in 1967, in New Jersey ([1]).
