Your submission at Articles for creation edit

I noticed your submission in Articles for creation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Sister R.S Subbulakshmi. Thanks! It will be reviewed by a volunteer soon.

Before it can be added to Wikipedia, your submission should have references. All articles on Wikipedia should have inline, numbered references after facts, showing the 'reliable source' (a newspaper, book, etc.) where the information can be checked, so that all information is verifiable.

Here's a video tutorial - hit play, then right-click for "full screen".

Here's an example of how to add references:

Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> The Book of Chzz, Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea.<ref> Smith, John. "[http://foonews.com/Article42 Interview with Chzz]", Foo News, 1 April 2010. Retrieved 2011-05-22. </ref>

== References ==

{{reflist}}

That makes the references automatically display as small numbers[1] which will link to the details in the section titled == References == at the end. You can see that example in action here.

Please add references to your submission, which will be reviewed as soon as possible. See also, Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. If you need any help, just put {{helpme}} at the end of this page, followed by a question or get into our live help chat chanel at #wikipedia-en-help connect.

Issues with your contributions edit

Hi, as much as we appreciate contributions and encourage people to become involved, we do have some basic rules etc here on Wikipedia. I have had to revert pretty much every edit that you have made because they fail the most basic tests. I think that it would be worthwhile for you to take a look at our Five Pillars, which explain such concepts as verifiability and neutrality. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 23:57, 22 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

With regard to your message on my talk page here, it is usually best to keep conversations in the place where they were started. In this case, that means your own talk page. As far as the content of your message goes, it seems clear to me that you responded before reading the item that I suggested above, otherwise you probably would not have mentioned the family sources etc. Please do not add content relying on such sources to articles. -Sitush (talk) 10:25, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your recent sourcing - that is much better. It is not a great idea to rely mostly on a single source but, hey, we are getting there. - Sitush (talk) 23:32, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank You. THese are the attempts of a newbie. I have the information hence I appreciate the guidance that you are offering. am getting to be more aware of the rules and regulations. I am meanwhile continuing to update these articles. So please do look out for more comprehensive updatesSmuthusami (talk) 23:52, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

That's ok. We are all new once, and none of us ever stop learning. Some of the policies etc can be very confusing but, believe me, stick around and you will get the hang of things. There are plenty of friendly people around and this place works on consensus and good faith: even if you come across someone who disagrees with you, there is a reasonable opportunity to state your case provided that you keep calm etc. You will not always "win" and no-one is always "right", but generally we muddle along pretty well. - Sitush (talk) 00:06, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi, this edit and similar treatments are not how we do things. If something can be sourced to a page or to a range of pages (such as "pp. 13-14") then we do that. What we do not do is cause people to jump all around a series of disconnected pages to verify disconnected statements. We have ended up with a citation that says "Felton, Monica (2003). A child widow's story. New Delhi: Katha. pp. 13, 14, 26, 36, 226. ISBN 9788187649915." - can this be fixed, please? - Sitush (talk) 08:58, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for April 24 edit

Hi. When you recently edited Nilakanta Mahadeva Ayyar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Presidency College (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Nilakanta Krishnan image edit

There is a request for an image to be uploaded for Nilakanta Krishnan, which you edited. Please help with some image, without copyright restrictions. One option is the cover of his autobiography. I am not sure of the copyright issues. Please see http://www.amazon.com/Sailors-Story-Admiral-Nilakanta-Krishnan/dp/8189534149 Anant (talk) 11:21, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
