Steve Rimpici

This article is horribly sourced. Please read our policy on what a reliable source is, and how to cite sources in footnotes. Most of the article is not footnoted. Some of it will never have reliable third-party sourcing, such as the commercials and Narrations and Corporate VOs. These cannot be sourced to the subjects own website or resumé, they must be sourced to independent third-party sources. I'll be removing large parts of the article. I did research on other voiceover artists as well (more well-known) like June Foray, Casey Kasem, Frank Welker, and Bill Ratner. They all have only a few sources. I can certainly change the format to be more prose rather than credit listing. Would that help?

More prose is good, but filmographies are fine. My main concern is the Commercials and Corporate sections. If there are reliable sources, real articles, not just a DB entry, then discussing the most important of these in prose would certainly add to the article. But if the only source for these is the subject's website or resumé, it would be better to just leave them out. Lists of works do not have to be complete, focusing on the most important works, which have reviews and other sources that IMDb would make for a better article. Oh, and the rules for biographies of living people have been made much stricter over the last few years. Articles that have been here awhile may indeed be undersourced. New BLP's receive much more scrutiny now. That's probably why the other articles only have a few sources. This is my first page and I'm trying to get it right. I appreciate the comments you've given.

What needs to be footnoted?

I'm in school studying film and TV (with a particular interest in voiceovers). Mr. Rimpici was the subject chosen to do a wiki page for. Are YouTube videos considered reliable sources if they are on a different person (or studio's) channel?

Is IMDB a reliable source?

I am glad to help. IMDb is reliable for non-personal things like title, date, credits, etc, but not for biographical details. These need to be sourced to more reliable biographical sources. YouTube videos aren't so much sources as examples. The thing to watch out for there is to make sure the uploader is authorized by the copyright holder. The subject's channels and the studio's channels are safe, but best not to link to one uploaded by a third party.

Ultimately, it would be best to have a footnote citation to a credits page for each work. (See Template:IMDb for a cleaner way to cite IMDb.) Also, lists should generally not be completely inclusive. Filmographies for voice actors would typically list the major works, but not minor ones. This is sometimes indicated with the heading "Partial filmography" or "Selected filmography". The interested reader can follow the IMDb link in the external links section if they want a complete listing. I would not include commercials or other work unless they have been reported in the media - the citations for these should go to published article which are interesting to read. I am happy to help... but please try not to revert me. I can properly format references, and anything that has been taken out can be put back if there is a good reason to do so. Does this make sense? To answer your question: IMDb is generally not considered to be a reliable source. WP:External links/Perennial websites#IMDb says:

• As an external link: Y Generally yes.
• As a reliable source: N Generally no.
• Common issues: The IMDb website generally contains more information than the Wikipedia article, including information that cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to amount of detail. However, content is user-submitted and therefore not generally reliable. (This includes biographies, which cannot be directly edited.)

I've also just done some cleanup on the article, and based on the policies about biographies, I'm just not seeing how this article can pass the notability requirements unless you find many more solid references to him. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 23:46, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
