Welcome and introduction

edit

Hi, Smallword. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  04:04, 10 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Hello

edit

just a note here to say i generally agree with your political/dietary concerns as i have understood them. I have had issues with veganism, due to the apparent necessity of at least some animal nutrients in our diet. i know it makes moral choices more difficult, but nobody ever told us existence would be easy.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:22, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks--that's why I had to write a book, all those moral choices I couldn't sum up in a sound bite. I hope I'm replying correctly, I'm totally new to Wikipedia.--Smallword (talk) 14:03, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Smallworld, you're doing just fine! Tips;
  • When you reply, start the line with a colon (:) to indent your reply. The next reply can have :: and ::: etc, thus forming a thread. I have indented each line of this reply with one colon. I also used * to make bullet-points.
  • When you reply to someones comment here, on your talk page, they won't necessarily notice. If it was on their talk page, they would get the 'You have new messages' banner', but because it is here instead, they won't. Therefore, it's good to also leave a brief note on their talk page to say "I have replied". If you want, you can use a template to do that (like I did in the above thread) - you can just put this on their talk page; {{tb|Smallword}}
Hope this helps. Please pop in and say hello some time. Always ask questions - we're all here to help each other. Best,  Chzz  ►  14:16, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
