Hello, Smalf002, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

A Biography of Susan Folwell moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, A Biography of Susan Folwell, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Notes

edit

Hi! Here are the promised notes:

Firstly, it looks like there is some pushback about whether or not Folwell should have her own article or only be covered in her mother's article. What this means is that once we move the article live it will likely need to go through a formal deletion discussion to put paid to these concerns. Offhand it does look like she is independently notable, as her work is held in notable museums, but the main thing here is going to be finding sourcing.

I've been working on the draft at User:Smalf002/Susan Folwell, rather than Draft:Susan Folwell, since the sandbox draft has your full edit history. I've edited this heavily for tone and some formatting, mostly for tone since it took a fairly positive, praising light towards Folwell. For example, we can't call her work masterful or anything that could be seen as an opinion or interpretation of her work. We can only summarize what others have stated about her and her work, plus these summaries must be written in a way that attributes these opinions.

I've cleaned up the bio section and will help clean up the artwork section, but what we need right now are non-primary sources. By this I mean that we need to find things like links to the museum listings for the permanent collections and exhibitions, as opposed to linking to the author's website. This will be one of the strongest ways to help establish her notability independently of her mother, as we need to be able to show that she's exhibited and been collected apart from the work she's done with her.
