Hi - thanks for the notice, I was going to mention the Afd bit, but Quarl done did that :-) Ati3414 also created How old is the Earth?, with the same content on Jan. 31 [1], it was turned into a redirect by User:Peruvianllama within a few minutes. Well, adminship itself entails doing chores :) such as deleting pages that should be deleted. Since such things require more judgement than just editing pages the community only grants certain powers to users they trust. If you're interested in becoming an administrator but don't know anything about it yet, I suggest reading up on Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list and Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship, and voting regularly in WP:RFA. —Quarl ^(talk) 2006-02-28 06:11Z

Thank you for your reply on my discussion page (should this have been posted there too?). I understand you mean (4. Unable to be split or made any smaller), but I still don't understand why a scalar (computing) "that can hold only one value at a time" must be referred to as this. A bit, though, I agree in a sense is 'atomic' – but even a bit is either 1 or 0. And scalar in mathematics can be any number. I'm aware of my lack of knowledge in these fields, but as far as I know the word seems irrelevant here. I hope you don't mind me asking for a deeper explanation. --Profero 08:27, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

A graph or table based on decimal values is incorrect

A graph that is based upon decimal values will not show that half-life computation ends when the number of Carbon-14 atoms is less than one. If you use decimal variables to make the graph then the graph will drop below one and continue ad infintium. The reason for using a table is to clearly show that the results of the half-life computation using integer variables overcomes this problem and allows a table or a graph to reflect the truth that when the number of Carbon-14 atoms is less than one the process of half-life decay is over. Hydrogen-like atom math

Hello Smack. I wanted to bring your attention to some recent changes to your contributions to Atomic orbital (I didn't think you would be aware of these changes because the content has since been moved to Hydrogen-like atom). Because you were the original contributor to the relevant sections (see here and here), I thought you might want to provide some input on these recent changes. Basically, some of us expressed on Talk:Hydrogen-like atom that it seemed more appropriate to not include Z in the definition for "a" and to change the relationship of "a" to the Bohr radius. Re Bosnia

I think it is pritty clear what user Bosoni is trying to allude to: ie Bosniaks are the heirs to Bosnia.

quite frankly wikipedia is about neutrality, and 2(Serbs and Croats)! of the 3 CONSTITUENT NATIONS of BiH have a very conflicting view with this, so therefore their view, regarding a ISSUE that CONCERNS THEM, should also be heard.

i suggested 2 neutral versions, which would be NUETRAL to ALL concerned parties, however it seems that Bosnoni is very eager to pass his very one minded revisionist agenda regarding the history of BiH.

Graphics Lab

I saw your name listed on Wikiproject Illustration or the list of graphic artists, and I thought I'd let you know that a Graphics Lab has been created on EN. Based on the highly successful French and German graphics labs, it seeks to better organise and coordinate our graphic design and photo-editing efforts. Up until now, there has been no common space on EN where users could ask for maps, charts and other SVG files to be created. What's more, the Graphics Lab has discussion boards, tips, tools and links; in sum, a good common workspace. Come help us out! I've just discovered there's a separate disambiguation page at St. Johns. I'm inclined to think having two disambiguation pages is better - what do you think? There's also a bit of a muddle over "St. Johns" and "St. John's" and "St Johns" and "St John's" and "Saint Johns" and "Saint John's". I am inclined to copy what exists at Saint Mary (disambiguation) and Saint Mary's (disambiguation). That means:

• moving St. Johns to Saint John's (because, in my opinion, that is the simplest version)
• redirecting St Johns, St John's, St. John's, Saint Johns etc to Saint John's
• moving entries from Saint John to Saint John's as appropriate - this would include the majority of the entries in the Places subsection, and
• Creating a new Places subsection within the main section of Saint John's
• listing secondary disambiguation pages such as Saint John's College and Saint John's University in the See also section, and moving entries to those pages from Saint John and Saint John's, as appropriate

I would be very glad of your feedback on this - it's quite drastic, but to my mind, we shouldn't expect readers to know whether what they want is St. John's or St Johns or what.

I spent a while yesterday evening tidying up Saint John's University (disambiguation) and disambiguating some of the links. I'm British, and I had to be quite cautious with the American universities. Is it safe to assume if someone grew up in New York, and went to St John's University, it was the New York one they went to? In the UK, it has been normal to chose a University in a different part of the country - learning to live independently being part of the educational experience. List of fictional characters ... pending deletion

Hello,

You may be interested in the discussion regarding deleting a list article regarding fictional Carpenters. You have in the past created a List of surname Johnson. I created a list of real and fictional Carpenter because other editors/admins told me to do so from the Carpenter surname page. Now others want to delete it. I was happy with the way it was and would be happy to merge the fictional Carpenters with the list of surname Carpenters. Any input, pro or con would be welcome.
