Guideline and policy news
- A request for comment determined that non-administrators will not be able to request interface admin access.
- A request for comment is in progress to determine whether the Mediation Committee should be closed and marked as historical.
- A village pump discussion has been ongoing about whether the proposed deletion policy (PROD) should be clarified or amended.
- A request for comment is in progress to determine whether pending changes protection should be applied automatically to today's featured article (TFA) in order to mitigate a recent trend of severe image vandalism.
Technical news
- Partial blocks is now available for testing on the Test Wikipedia. The new functionality allows you to block users from editing specific pages. Bugs may exist and can be reported on the local talk page or on Meta. A discussion regarding deployment to English Wikipedia will be started by community liaisons sometime in the near future.
- A user script is now available to quickly review unblock requests.
- The 2019 Community Wishlist Survey is now accepting new proposals until November 11, 2018. The results of this survey will determine what software the Wikimedia Foundation's Community Tech team will work on next year. Voting on the proposals will take place from November 16 to November 30, 2018. Specifically, there is a proposal category for admins and stewards that may be of interest.
Arbitration
- Eligible editors will be invited to nominate themselves as candidates in the 2018 Arbitration Committee Elections starting on November 4 until November 13. Voting will begin on November 19 and last until December 2.
- The Arbitration Committee's email address has changed to arbcom-en
wikimedia.org. Other email lists, such as functionaries-en and clerks-l, remain unchanged.

Speedy deletion nomination of National Council for Women edit
A tag has been placed on National Council for Women requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
- disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". ArbCom 2018 election voter message edit
Hello, SlimVirgin. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

- I appreciate your kind and encouraging words, both of you... Sarah, please know that I admire your skill and knowledge and all the other attributes that make you an exemplary Wikipedian. You were always patient with me and helped to mentor me when I thought to try and help the project. It used to be "no big deal". Just common sense people making common sense decisions, and trying to move things forward in a way which was inclusive, rather than the opposite. The level of discourse that a simple (if misguided) request generated in mere seconds has caused me to shrivel in revulsion. - Hamster Sandwich, thank you for the kind words. I have very positive memories of you too. Things have changed around here, but not all for the bad. Things can be a little harsher, but there are still lots of good people doing good work, and it would be lovely to have you back. I think the reception you got was somewhat affected by the recently hacked admin accounts we've experienced, which means the bureaucrats and others posting there might be on higher alert than usual. - I want to ask: "Geez, how bad was it" But really, my gut tells me, I don't have to worry about it. The dickhead who was riding me mentioned he word "community" and I find that laughable. It wasn't just the one either.... I felt like I was getting jumped by thugs. That's gratitude for ya, eh? Total disregard for any thing I had ever done on WP... It strikes me now, that the one thing I used to be able to do was take certain "problem children" editors in hand and help them edit productively. One hopes... Anyways, "bitten" "disregarded out-of-hand" and "shown the door" all readily spring to mind. Mybe I'll lick these freshened wounds and come back stronger, more likely... I think I'd prefer to edit anonymously, as I have generally done in recent years. "Any idiot with 100K can climb Mt. Everest.
