Speedy deletion nomination of Fishwife (band) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Fishwife (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. SummerPhD (talk) 17:46, 14 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Fishwife image edit

Hi SlimJimJones, someone has noted that this image you uploaded as your own work has already been published before in this blog. Do you happen to be that blogger? If so, please confirm your authorship of the photo by sending an email from your blog account to permission-en@wikimedia.org. You can find a template text at WP:Consent. Wikipedia has very strict rules about copyright so we'll have to be sure that this image has rightly been licensed by you. De728631 (talk) 14:18, 21 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

The problem here is not your possible conflict of interest but the fact that your photo has already been posted elsewhere. Somebody might doubt that you're the original creator and file a deletion request. I suggest you send an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org explaining what you told me about your giving away of copies of the image. That should suffice to verify your authorship. October 2012 edit

Hello, I'm SummerPhD. I noticed that you made comments that didn't seem very civil. Wikipedia needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it’s one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. [1][2] SummerPhD (talk) 04:14, 28 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

After the above warning, this is a bad idea. Additionally, edit summaries are meant to briefly explain edits. "My Caffeine addiction sometimes makes me go psychotically insane)"[3] and "Give me the firing squad death penalty. I want a euphoric brainscrambling bullet to pierce my cranium. I hope I can still get the electric chair or shooting death for my punishment."[4] are not helpful. Your behavior is becoming disruptive. - SummerPhD (talk) 01:23, 30 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please stop introducing jokes into articles, such as those you created at Spinspider (ride). Wikipedia is a serious encyclopedia, and contributions of this type are considered vandalism. Continuing to add jokes and other disruptive content into articles may lead to you being blocked from editing. GoneIn60 (talk) 10:49, 30 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hey there, administrator. This is a little awkward. I have been mostly away from the internet as well as most facets of my life dealing with some personal issues, then I logged back in today and saw a bunch of talk page messages, including one informing me that I have been blocked. I literally laughed out loud when I saw what the block was for, until the implications (not being able to make productive edits from my account) began to sink in. I could not blame you for upholding my block, but I figure I may as well explain myself and assure you that I will never make such disruptive edits again, and leave it up to you to decide. You see, I am a "recovering caffeine addict" as of this point in time; millions of Americans and perhaps billions of people consume coffee on a daily basis, and many, perhaps a majority, are dependent on caffeine to some extent. Most of these people will never suffer any ill effects from their caffeine consumption. However, psychiatric disorders, Major Depressive Disorder in my case, radically alter the way psychoactive drugs affect one's system. I started drinking coffee in the mornings like a normal person, but my depression made me psychologically addicted to the mild elation caused by the drug as well as physiologically addicted as many people are. In addition, my disorder exacerbated the "crash" caused by caffeine, leading me to consume even more. While most hard-core coffee drinkers max out at about 300mg caffeine daily, by the time I reached rock bottom I was consuming 1500mg+ every single day without fail, and had resorted to snorting and intravenously injecting pure caffeine powder purchased over the internet. I would be catatonic one minute and manic or psychotic the next (which explains, but does not excuse, my disruptive editing; I think most of the vandalism-type edits in my log were made during episodes of psychosis as I generally do not remember making them), and my addiction was completely controlling my life. With the help of my psychiatrist, who prescribed me Zyban, and NA, I am now off the junk, and will never touch another cup of that horrible liquid as long as I live. Knowing my story, and having the edit log in front of you, it is now up to you to make a decision, and as I said before I cannot blame you no matter what you decide. However, I believe I am and will continue to be an asset to the encyclopedia; I mean, looking at the edits from my hopped-up-on-java days it appears to me that even then I did substantially more good than harm. Now, with my addiction behind me, I can really get down to some good wiki-work. If you decide to give me a second chance, that is.SlimJimJones (talk) 07:36, 12 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

First, Wikipedia is WP:NOTTHERAPY. Second, even when on a "drug", most people know "Stop" means "stop now". Finally, only a week into recovery and you're 100%? No. (✉→BWilkins←✎) 10:06, 12 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
