I-94, I-96 and Canada

I-94 actually terminates at the border with Canada in the middle of the Blue Water Bridges. I-96 ends at I-75. The Ambassador Bridge has no route number, so I-96 doesn't actually connect to Canada. Imzadi 1979 → 05:07, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Yes, but as I-96 terminates at I-75--the very last exit on I-96 (Exit 192B) is the direct connector ramp to the Ambassador Bridge. At that point, at the very end of I-96, one has a choice of exiting onto I-75 South, or exiting directly onto the Ambassador Bridge. This ramp, I will argue, is I-96's direct connection to Canada--a connection with no traffic lights that requires one to drive directly into Canada. (I have driven on this section of I-96 personally.) The same situation happens at the end of I-94: at the very end of the highway, one can exit onto M-25, or one can exit onto the Bluewater Bridge. From a driver's perspective, the choice at the end of either highway is identical. From a practicality standpoint, I-96 is very rare in that it terminates both at another Interstate AND at a direct connection to the Canadian Border at the same time! Except that the Blue Water Bridges are officially part of I-69/I-94, just as the International Bridge is part of I-75. The Ambassador Bridge has no number and is not part of I-96. I-96 has no direct connection to Canada as it ends 2/3 of a mile from the border. Imzadi 1979 → 06:04, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
