Peter Händel

Sorry, but I've declined your speedy request. It's not 'obviously made-up'. A11 is for things like drinking games invented by students, new words invented by high school pupils and 'theories' in maths and science that are obviously created by someone aged 13. There is a claim to significance in that the subject is stated to be a professor. WP:PROD would be a better choice. Peridon (talk) 16:34, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Altered speedy deletion rationale: Oscillamine

Hello Skr15081997. I am just letting you know that I deleted Oscillamine, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 10:16, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Categories

Thank you for your suggestion that I add categories to my article on Craig Mathieson. If I knew what categories this article might fall into, I would have done so! Do you have any suggestion? Shipsview (talk) 10:40, 31 December 2013 (UTC) You may add Category:Scottish polar explorers (in [[]]) or/and Polar exploration |state=collapsed (in {}) to show the Template:Polar exploration at the end of your article.Skr15081997 (talk) 11:00, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

New Page Patrol

Thank you for patrolling new pages. However, it is not generally considered to be a task for new editors. Before continuing to patrol, please read [[WP:NPP] and WP:DELETION thoroughly, and then you will understand also why we do not tag pages that are under construction with CSD A1 or A3 within minutes of creation as you did at Car Testers. Comment on edit to Fairfield University article

Do you feel that the style of the comments that I added was not satisfactory for the article, or that the content of the comments was not satisfactory? I felt the information that I added was necessary to produce a more balanced and complete picture of life at the university. I was actually quite convinced from reading the article that someone at the admissions office at the University had written it. Knowing that the university is not within walking distance to any business districts is useful, as is knowing that the high median income of the town of Fairfield means that rent generally is extremely high for students to live off campus. Perhaps your objection should have been to add citations (which I can do) instead of to entirely remove the content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.139.171.203 (talk) 19:58, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Lake Karakul

I am working with the History of the Pamir Mountains and it's Exploration since more then 20 years. To name the lake "Victoria" is nonsens, this is clearly the name for Zorkul. As well the name "Zira" and to say this is " old Saka/Pamiri" language. And "Orkhon Writings" ... Sorry, that area was far away from this place and there are hundreds of "Black Lakes". The name is from Kyrgyz people who came in this area about 200-300 years ago. If you want to inform yourself I am happy to send you a list of literature (although it will be a very long one). have you bothered to look at my edits, how many edits i have made and how long I have been around... do you think i would create an edit like that to expect to be reverted? I am starting the categories... please do not revert. satusuro 14:42, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Friend you could have told me this earlier.Skr15081997 (talk) 14:44, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
It is very good you have your new capacity to revert things. It is very important for wikipedia. When you look at another editors work, it is always worth looking at (1) time here (2) number of edits (3) - if you have the time - block log (4) sort of edits - in my case I am creating a category link from the inscriptions - to year in java - to year in indonesia - to year in asia - most of that chain of edits is to red links... make sure your go into your preferences pull down list and see what you can find ti activate - there are somevery very useful items to help you look at others edits... satusuro 14:51, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your useful advice satusuro.I will make sure they are followed. Thanks again.--Skr15081997 (talk) 13:07, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi Skr. Just a note regarding G5 speedy deletions: the tag is only applicable if a page was created in violation of a block. WOWIndian was not blocked or banned at the time that he created this page, and so G5 does not apply. Yunshui  13:46, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the info Yunshui ,I am only 5 months old on wiki. While I was using page curation it showed this page to be created by a blocked user,so I used the tag.

Yunshui ,will you adopt me,I promise you won't regret.Skr15081997 (talk) 13:57, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

I'm sure I wouldn't, but I'm afraid I have my hands rather full at the moment (I'm coaching three busloads of students through the Wikimedia Education Program) and don't really have enough free time to devote to taking on a new adoptee (my existing adoptees are being sorely neglected as it is). Ask me again in six months or so, or have a word with one of the other nice folk on the list of adopters. Sorry. Yunshui  14:22, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.

I noticed you worked on this article:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Devendra_Patel&diff=599707876&oldid=599705586

Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
  • common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).

(This even applies for infoboxes.)

Thanks and my best wishes.

Luuluu MuuMuu I am happy to see that you are well aware of all the rights and policies of Wikipedia and sorry for the late reply, I had went out for a walk. You have the full potential of becoming a good Wikipedian. Frankly speaking ,I reverted your edit since it looked like a vandal .You had removed the Citation-needed template, furthermore your edit presented a view that looked like someone was unhappy from the Railways and your last sentence said that Bowery Bay is also electrified at 60 Hz, but this is Amtrak infrastruture. Stiki only shows us the difference between 2 revisions and looking at your edit in the afternoon (in my timezone) I was sure that someone was doing wrong . Dear friend if instead of removing the citation-needed tag you had provided a reference for There is no current proposal to convert the rest of the Northeast Corridor I would have not reverted your edit. I understand all of my responsibilities on Wikipedia. Today I reverted 2 edits of same user on same article but again the user vandalised the page and keeping in mind the 3-Revert rule I didn't revert his 3rd edit. I hope you will understand my explanation. Thank you and don't forget to sign talk pages .You missed it during your first edit on my talk page.--Skr15081997 (talk) 16:14, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Tropa de Elite 2 - O Inimigo Agora É Outro. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Elite Squad: The Enemy Within. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Elite Squad: The Enemy Within – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. M. Caecilius (talk) 09:40, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

This appears to be a mistake on my part, as you initially did not add the redirect mark. Apologies. Should be fixed now. M. Caecilius (talk) 09:42, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
M. Caecilius, I am surpired to see your swiftness, I hope you will keep working on Wikipedia for a very long time.--Skr15081997 (talk) 09:48, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Adfonic rebranded to byyd

Hi, thanks for your note about reverting the changes. Adfonic actually rebranded as of today (see https://twitter.com/TheDrum/status/449474676184850432), hence the name change and addition of wording '(formerly Adfonic)'. Ideally the page title should change too. Apologies if I'm not using your Talk page properly, I'm not a very skilled Wikipedia user!

The change in name happened recently and I didn't knew about it so I thought you were vandalizing. You should always sign the talk pages by adding 4 tildes.--Skr15081997 (talk) 10:31, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
In which case would you be happy if I re-edited the page as before?Ailean MacDonald (talk) 00:13, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
I have fixed the issue, you need not worry.--Skr15081997 (talk) 01:48, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Great, thanks! Just one quick question: shouldn't the title of the page (and the page's web address) both say 'byyd' now? Eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/byyd?Ailean MacDonald (talk) 12:30, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
I will talk to the administrators regarding this matter.--Skr15081997 (talk) 13:20, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Formatting

Use {{lowercase title}} or {{db|spam}} Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:58, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Jimfbleak, would a redirect from byyd to Adfonic work. The Adfonic one has been on Wiki for a long time.--Skr15081997 (talk) 15:09, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
It's certainly recommended in MoS that you don't change article titles, particularly long-established ones, too readily Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:20, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:JRD TATA of bombay house.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:JRD TATA of bombay house.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 16:22, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

The information I had added was a link to a picture, from the official page of the individual the article was discussing, to the article. I don't understand how that is not constructive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Apologistdb (talkcontribs) 18:02, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz

Dear Skr15081997 (Shailendra),

I notice that you have left a message on the article in question to reduce references and leave footnotes. As a fairly new contributor to Wikipedia I am learning some of the rules (some of which are slightly irksome - however that is a debate for another day). Anyhow, I would like some advice on how to re-format the references into footnotes: What is best to leave as a reference? What is best to put as a footnote? Could you particularly advise on the article in question - not because I am fixated with the individual (as suggested by another user) but simply because it is one of the first contributions I have made, and thus I have spent much time on correcting and updating the article. It is somewhat of a learning curve - most especially the "rules of notability" (as reported today in the BBC it is quite an off-putting process - again an argument for another day!) Now this may be all rather academic as the article is currently under review for deletion, plus I am under investigation as being a "sockpuppet" (therefore will understand if you wish to ignore my message); however any guidance would nonetheless be helpful - as I feel that have made (or at least am trying to make) an honest contribution to this world of knowledge.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Craig Ctfn (talk) 19:59, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Dear user, Ctfn I tagged the article for using external links in the section Business interests and not with the motive that references should be removed. On the other hand it is always beneficial for the article to have references to reliable sources. You can see WP:RS and WP:EL to know the guidelines on using them. The first line on WP:EL says Wikipedia articles may include links to web pages outside Wikipedia (external links), but they should not normally be used in the body of an article. The section I mentioned above uses 3 external links so I tagged it for removing excessive links. I hope you will understand my explanation. --Skr15081997 (talk) 03:46, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

Father edit

Nope, that's not how it works "Skr1581997": that section is entirely opinion based, and links to a single source that is not objective. It manages to speculate in one paragraph that the discovery by men that they were the father's of their children was responsible for: "revoked the absolute freedom human beings used to enjoy with respect to their sexual behaviour, thus blaming and prohibiting all sexual acts not aimed at a fecundation of the woman. Moreover, the discovery of fatherhood and the sedentary forms of living developed during the Neolithic Age led the man to develop the first forms of private property and to defend them through conflicts – and eventually wars – with competing human beings". It is nonsense, and has not the slightest basis in fact. The edit should not have been undone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.97.94.167 (talk) 23:49, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

First of all, I'm Skr15081997 and I undid your edit since you had removed content without providing a reason for it in the edit summary. I am happy to see that you understand about Point of View and sourcing, I hope you can do a lot of good work here on Wikipedia. We need bold editors like you. Discussion

Thanks a lot for the barnstar, Dr. Blofeld. I wanted to talk to you regarding Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing Encyclopedic Articles. Since the past six months I have been here, the monthly focus of the project has been Canadian politicians. I created a few, but all of them are currently stubs. I want to work for the project. What can be done to increase user participation in the project?--Skr15081997 (talk) 09:32, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Not much we can do about wikipedia user participation really unless we start offering people something or advertising ourselves. I've long suggested offering editors incentives to write articles like monthly competitions with Amazon vouchers as a prize of something which will lure new people to the project to write for us. I've also suggested that wikimedia form as many agreements with language schools to help translate articles between wikipedias for practice. If we're really serious about producing an encyclopedia of the highest quality we really need to start capitalizing on the vast pools of potential editors and resources and treating each article with respect. We're grossly underachieving in overall quality and readability at present, even if overall we're on the right track in terms of scope.

In terms of participation in the missing articles project, yup there's very few people actively working on them. Not much we can do to get people working through them, people tend to do what they want to do. Overall organization is poor on wikipedia.I myself find it difficult to commit to any given project or task because of the extent of work needed everywhere on here. I do try to start a few DNB articles every week or so though.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:42, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Dr. Blofeld, We can at least try to increase participation by regularly giving barnstars and organizing drives. The disambiguation project, Wikiproject Wikify and Guild Of Copy Editors regularly organize drives which is the reason (I think) they are able to attract participants. If we ,I mean under your guidance organise drives then we can significantly increase participation. The members who create good quality, well- sourced and neatly written articles can be awarded barnstars. I talked about the project with Yunshui, he politely asked me to consult you. You can start a drive or so for a month, or a fortnight to see if it can produce any favorable outcome.--Skr15081997 (talk) 10:03, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

To be honest it's difficult for me to consistently organize drives to create new content when so much work is needed cleaning up what we've already got. I try to balance the work I do on here! We're a mess basically. A lot of new articles really don't help and add to the problem and workload. Naturally I support the creation of decent new articles, I just don't see it is a project priority right now.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:06, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

I understand Dr. Blofeld, that there's a lot of work to be done on the existing articles. As of April I am wikifying articles for WikiProject Wikify. I have wikified 90 of them in the last 14 days. I wish you had time to work on the missing articles project. Can you suggest me the name of any other wikipedian whom I can ask for help on the missing articles project. Thanks for the help.--Skr15081997 (talk) 10:20, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

User:Charles Matthews generally works on missing articles, especially DNB and might be worth approaching.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:21, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks a lot Dr. Blofeld.--Skr15081997 (talk) 10:26, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
