Sefa (pronounced as: Sɛːfa) is both the first name and the stage name of the Dutch disc jockey and music producer Sefa Vlaarkamp (born 30 June 2000). Sefa is active within the hardcore scene and its’ subgenre Frenchcore. Although Sefa claims his focus is on producing Frenchcore, it is said that he personifies a new movement within Hardcore, because he has collaborated on a musical level with various artists who are active in other hard dance-genres.[1]

Early life edit

At the age of 11, Sefa started producing hardstyle music, but later on he became acquainted with its’ subgenre Frenchcore,[2] which appealed to him because of the high BPMs. On the 30th of December 2015 Sefa released ‘This Life is Lost’. This was a collaboration with Frenchcore artist Dr. Peacock. When he turned 16, Vlaarkamp signed his first contract with BKJN Events. His debut took place shortly after that during a yearly event hosted by BKJN: Vive la Frenchcore. Right after Sefa successfully passed his HAVO-exams, he decided to focus completely on his career in music. On the 2nd of September 2018 Sefa performed on his own stage as a host for the first time during the yearly festival Dream Village.[3] He also performed at other events, such as: Defqon.1, Dominator, Q-Base and Decibel Outdoor. And last but not least, he performed at Harmony of Hardcore, where he played his own piano composition live on stage accompanied by his own music. Sefa is also a frequently invited guest DJ on Hardcore Radio.

Besides his performances, Sefa is guest speaker at a yearly masterclass presented by dj Angerfist. During his lecture, Sefa speaks to beginning music producers about his way of producing music.
