Olmert's conditions

The conditions were summarised and inserted into the "Possibel escalation" section, and so it is now redundant. If you believe that it should be included in the intro, then use the summarised (and BBC sourced) version please. Cheers, TewfikTalk 17:48, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

ORBCW incident

Explain to me, what's the nafka mina who's a ger, who did whose geyrus, etc., would ya? That was vile and uncalled for, even if you two have a history. I am letting you know, bli neder, that if you pull anything else of this nature, I will block you per WP:NPA - consider this your only warning. Please contribute productively - or not at all. - CrazyRussian talk/email 02:24, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

  • It has nothing to do with him being a ger, but I know his history and I know the reasons why he was banned from a certain forum. If I could show you the posts he posted you would also be hesitant in letting him edit/add articles about Jewish leaders. Yossiea 13:07, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

I have nothing against authentic Judaism. You're using a weasel word. Just because I think Daniel needs a source for his quote doesn't mean anything. Yossiea 12:49, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Conduct at Modern attempts

Just a reminder going forward, since I have unprotected the article now: Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you do so again in this article, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. --Aguerriero (talk) 15:41, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Calling other edits vandalism and 3RRV

Although content-wise I sympathize with your edits here they are not vandalism but a content dispute. You are technically over 3RR but I am not going to block since you seemed to have a misunderstanding of what constitutes vandalism. However, I strongly suggest that you read in detail Wikipedia:Vandalism and WP:3RR. If you continue I will have to block you. JoshuaZ 22:20, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

If the user is a sock of a banned user you should revert simply with that in the edit summary and not get into any content issues. What user is this in any event? JoshuaZ 22:30, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
The user is Daniel575, you can read the sock-puppet notice I put up as well as the H-Z talk page, where he just violated 3RR as well. Yossiea 22:31, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Sigh. How unfortunate. I'll block him and revert the edit. JoshuaZ 22:35, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, but I also added a request for semi-protection so that he can't come on under a new IP, as he will. (I "know" him from another forum where he was banned 5 times as he kept coming back under different names, so I know that he can't stay away.) Yossiea 22:36, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

IP

was blocked. But on a personal level, I think the witchhunt you conducted against him was disgusting. He was always opinionated - but you could have worked with him if you had chosen to. - crz crztalk 19:05, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

  • It's not a witch hunt. I happen to have some of these pages on my watch list and I noticed his edits. I have tried working with him, both on this site and on another site. He is not someone you can work with. If he would allow other people's opinions from being presented that would be one thing, but he doesn't. He monopolizes and scares away other editors. Tefillin

BS"D

We have the same thing for payos, btw. If you let it go for payos(and if crzrussian was still here he would agree with me because he refined that section of the payos article) you should let it go for Tefillin. and dont go to the payos article and remove that, I wasnt the only person to work on that one.

Respond on my talk page relating to this.

Ortonville, Minnesota

I've taken the revision of Ortonville, Minnesota back further, as there was still vandalism remaining on the page. Lcarscad 17:20, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

What is this message i keep getting popped up?

I haven't edited any pages in months? It links to some article about beyonce knowles????

Gary Bettman

I blanked that section because it was so POV, and badly needed cleanup. I don't vandalise Wikipedia. I planning a rewrite, that outlines a few obstacles during his tenure, but not to the point it went. I read it, and what the message of section was to me was that Gary Bettman sucks. Booo!!! So, anyhow, I'm preparing an overhaul(WikiProject Ice Hockey lists as one of the top cleanup articles), and my edit wasn't vandalism. The Evil Clown Please review me! 20:16, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

  • You still don't blank a section. Have you discussed it on the talk page? Blanking is vandalism.
Yes. It has been discussed the since the beginning of March. People called for the complete elimination of it([2]), and I have stepped up done the action (I didn't fully kill it, but reduced it to three sourced examples.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Evilclown93 (talkcontribs) 20:25, 18 March 2007 (UTC).

User:80.99.230.56

Thank you for making a report about 80.99.230.56 (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you! TigerShark 20:20, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, that didn't take too long. :) Yossiea (talk) 20:23, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I received a warning for changing an article about Weebl and Bob. This edit may have come from the same IP address, but I can assure you that it was not me, as I have a dynamic IP address each time my router disconnects.

The only thing I can tell you is to register and get a screenname. Otherwise, if someone edits on your IP, even though it might not be you, it's still the same IP that you use. Yossiea (talk) 13:23, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Edit's to the The Chacham Tzvi's Descendants Section

You recently edited the section to add the Divrei Chaim, Rabbi Chaim Halberstam to the list of the Chacham Tzvi's descendants. The previously listed descendants were his children and grandchildren. There are a number of generations missing between the Chacham Tzvi and the Divrai Chaim. At that generation there were hundreds of descendants of the Chacham Tzvi (see the Klilas Yofi, Ir Hatzedek and the much more recent Unbroken Chain II for a more detailed list). If you feel that the Divrei Chaim belongs in the article, please briefly list how he is a descendant. Thanks

Yeshayah Rosenberger

Regarding the speedy delete - first of all, it really was speedy; within a couple of hours it disapeared. Unless I would have monitored the computer 24/7, I could never have stopped it. Surely more time should be given for such a thing. Secondly, the article is dealing with one of the Eidah Chareidis, of which at least half the members have pages. This is the main Chareidi Beis Din in the world, and its 5 members should have a page each. Whilst I agree that more imformation was needed on the page, this is something to be worked on, rather than a speedy delete. Why is this member any less notable than the others ie Avrohom Yitzchok Ulman or Meir Brandsdorfer? Please reply on my talk page. Thank you. Lobbuss 18:10, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

When did you put the tag on? I only found out about it too late, even though I check here everyday. Also, just because someone is notable doesn't mean it's easy to find information on him. Maybe you'd like to contibute? Please reply on my talk page Lobbuss 18:19, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Does everyone here look at wiki 24/7? If so, don't you think 2 hours is too short a time to let someone put a {{hangon}} tag? Gut shabbos Lobbuss 09:29, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I didn't delete the page. I just tagged it.

Yossiea, I am a little concerned you're starting to act in a similar manner to Yidisheryid - how are your actions today any better or worse than his? I am making no judgement at all with regards to whose version of the article is better, just to your actions. I've commented more on this on Talk:Haredim and Zionism. Yeah, I saw that and I made mention of it in the original sockpuppet request. But I'm not sure if I should put another sockpuppet case, but you can if you wish. I am also wondering why this user has such an interest in that topic. Yossiea (talk) 17:28, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
I looked through his contribution history and it seems that just before he started with this messianic nonsense he was involved in this nasty Haredi/Zionest fight with Daniel. Yidisher was editing articles with the premise that most Haredim are not anti-zionest and Daniel was editing on the oppisite premise. It looks like Daniel won. Yidisher might have been right but he did not go about his business using WP rules. In any case, I suspect that the loss pushed him over the edge and he decided to "screw everyone" and start with this messianic stuff.
I also saw the Weinberger article and thought about nominating it for deletion. I left it alone, however, figuring that it's preferable that he's involved with Weinberger-like articles then with... --Yeshivish 18:01, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Yep, and I am also privy to off-wiki emails where he really gets off on the messianic bit claiming that it's better for an irreligious Jew to be in with them than to stay irreligious. I just hope he either tones down, or loses interest in his fad for disrupting Wikipedia. I can't believe I have to watch an article on Avigdor Miller to prevent him from ruining it. Sadly, this is one reason why I think Wiki won't be considered authoritative. If people are scared away from editing, then the articles will reflect the winning view and not necessarily the NPOV.

Please reconsider your nomination

Hi Yossiea: Please re-read the Association for Jewish Outreach Programs article in its entirety and you will see that I have thoroughly Wikified and re-wriiten it with lots of new info, and moved it in the direction of a more critical article. I have added over twenty new citations including two key ones where AJOP was discussed in major Jewish communal and academic forums, see Association for Jewish Outreach Programs#Connection with Haredi Judaism. I have added an AJOP as an international Jewish resource section, based on painstaking research and not from "spam" or "blogs" and citing each link in detail. I have also added information about AJOP's origins, and where it fits into the broader scheme of things in the Orthodox world. Thank you for giving this matter your utmost attention, and I sincerely hope that based on the latest version of the article you will reconsider and withdraw your nomination at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/AJOP which I believe was done in too much haste. Thanks again. Sincerely, IZAK 08:13, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the major fixups, I have removed the AFD. Gmar Tov! Yossiea (talk) 15:08, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Isak's editing of the article is not considered any improvement, he deleted all non-affiliated sources that do not serve as Kiruv workers and replaced it with allot of words, so this is now more important the discussion to delete the article please do not close discussions that other have asked to be held.--יודל 15:16, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
I think you are making zero sense. He improved the article greatly, including sources for tons of stuff. If YOU now think the article needs to be deleted, then make your own AFD. My AFD was withdrawn. Yossiea (talk) 15:17, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
I have made that AFD just like you. u cannot close it--יודל 15:21, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Of course I can close it. I made the AFD and I can withdraw the nom. You voted to keep so I'm not sure what you have a problem with. Yossiea (talk) 15:24, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Furthermore, the AFD is closed, the tag states "Do not Modify." If you have a problem, bring it to deletion review. But again, you voted to keep, so I'm not sure what your problem is. Yossiea (talk) 15:25, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
I am allowed to change my vote, that the whole reason of that page to change minds, and i am allowed to second your AFD so in essence the AFD is still opened because you cannot close it once u r not the only one requesting the discussion.--יודל 15:28, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
That's not how it works. If you want it deleted, open up your own AFD. My AFD was satisfied when Izak modified the page to make my AFD nom irrelevant. And I can't believe this, but you now want the page deleted? Yossiea (talk) 15:29, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Its not your afd anymore since i have seconded the request for deletion long before u closed it--יודל 15:31, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Irrelevant. I nominated the page for AFD, the page no longer warrants an AFD in my nominating opinion. If you now want it deleted, open up your own new AFD. It's as simple as that. Yossiea (talk) 15:33, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
I also nominated it for deletion long before you closed it so the page isn't anymore yours then mine.--יודל 15:44, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Rabbi Avrohom Yitzchok Ulman AfD

Hi Yossiea: Looks like you were too much in a hurry to delete an article about Rav Avrohom Yitzchok Ulman a very notable posek in Jerusalem. I know you are upset at User:Daniel575 (most normal people are) but he did contribute worthy material about Haredi and Hasidic Judaism to Wikipedia which needs to be preserved and not deleted, especially if it is of a non-controversial nature. You could have placed a note to request an update with the article at WP:JUDAISM. Sometimes, minor personalities should have their bios pulled from Wikipedia, but with famous rabbonim, even though there might not be enough good info right away, you need to show more patience and not jump the gun. Otherwise it may seem that you have your own POV agenda here to eliminate certain rabbis. So please take care in the future, as you have done this quite a few times already. Best wishes, IZAK 12:34, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

I didn't jump any gun. The article was tagged since Feb. 2007 and I just put the AFD up. All I wrote is that there are no sources and most of the article is OR. Yossiea (talk) 14:32, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

In the morning, there are exciting plans for a behind-the-scenes guided tour of the American Museum of Natural History.

In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to discussing meta:Wikimedia New York City issues (see the last meeting's minutes).

In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and (weather permitting) hold a late-night astronomy event at Columbia's telescopes.

Idea for Talmud articles

Hi Yosiea: I am reposting the following request from User Sh76us (talk · contribs) on my user talk page for wider notification:

I was thinking of trying to stimulate development of a series of articles on Gemara concepts and doctrines, maybe to help children or newcomers to Gemara with explanations of some fundamental concepts that recur throughout the Gemara. Some examples might be articles on Yiush, Chazakah, Ta'aninun (as in "Ta'aninun L'Yoresh"), Eidim Zomemin (forgive my awful transliterations), Migu, etc., etc. Maybe we could even create a category or subcategory for it. I created Breira in this vein. As I don't have the experience or expertise in Wikipedia to know what to do to best develop this idea, I figured I'd come to you for your opinions on: (1) whether it's a good idea; and (2) How to best go about implementing it. Thanks Sh76us (talk) 15:56, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Puch 500 contested

This article was discovered from a translation of German Wikipedia, and to make sure the article was the same in both English and German, I copied the translation to the english side, including the images and tables, which had formatting errors after being copied to the English side. Motto of the day

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:46, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Dave McCoy

I don't think this article should be speedily deleted. While I will admit that I am an avid snowboarder at Mammoth, so are hundreds of thousands of other people from around the world. If you ever go to the resort you will notice McCoy is practically worshiped as a deity there. He definitely deserves an article and I think that it will quickly be expanded.- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg | Talk 18:29, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

It's possible, but a one word sentence is not enough for an encyclopedia. Furthermore, "but do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself." Yossiea (talk) 20:04, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
I know its not enough for an article, that is why it is a stub. It is simply there to be expanded. I have been editing here for years and I know that it will be deleted unless the administrator who comes across it is a skier or snowboarder. Just give it a chance to be expanded.- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg | Talk 20:07, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I was about to "warn" the user, but then I noticed that something was a little fishy about the edit and I went to look into it, but then real life came calling. Yossiea (talk) 17:21, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

New Jersey Hatzolah proposal

There are Hatzolah organizations in many towns and cities in the state of New Jersey. They have supported each other fraternally in various ways.

  • Clifton: Hatzolah of Passaic/Clifton EMS, shared with Passaic. This Hatzolah uses the Lakewood Hatzolah posek, HaRav Shmuel Meir Katz Shlita. This Hatzolah is geographically near Union City, and can provide extra coverage for them.
  • Deal: Chevra Hatzalah Jersey Shore, primarily serving the year-round Sephardic community in the Deal area (Deal, West Deal, Long Branch), but expands to cover additional Jersey Shore communities in warmer months. They loaned a spare ambulance to Passaic/Clifton for about six months in 2007-2008, to help start the organization.
  • Elizabeth: Hatzolah of Union County, also covers Hillside. Often shares classes with Passaic/Clifton, and has supplied community event coverage to assist Passaic/Clifton. Union County is geographically and organizationally separate from Union City.
  • Hillside: This community is contiguous with Elizabeth. The entire community leadership, including Hatzolah, is combined. Hillside is the smaller, more upscale part of the community.[1]
  • Jersey Shore: This is the official name of the branch in Deal. There are a total of seven municipalities covered by Chevra Hatzolah Jersey Shore.[2] This Hatzalah is the only Sephardic Hatzalah, and one of only two using this spelling (transliteration) in New Jersey.
  • Lakewood: The largest branch in New Jersey. Unique to New Jersey, Lakewood has a Paramedic (ALS) unit. The ALS unit is owned and run by MONOC, but the Paramedics are also Lakewood Hatzolah members, and the ambulance was donated by Hatzolah Lakewood to MONOC. This unusual arrangement meets New Jersey's strict hospital-based ALS rules, while giving Hatzolah its own ALS coverage. Also unique, Lakewood has its own Rescue (extrication) unit. The rescue unit has also performed a demonstration of its capabilities at an event organized by Hatzolah of Passaic/Clifton.
  • Passaic: Is contiguous with Clifton. The larger part of the single Passaic/Clifton Orthodox Jewish community lives in Passaic, and Hatzolah of Passaic/Clifton, covering both parts of the community, is primarily based in Passaic, with some members and management in Clifton.
  • Union City: Hatzolah of Union City, is run out of Yeshivas Sanz-Klausenberg, which is the center of the Chasidic community in Union City. It is the only Chasidic Hatzolah in New Jersey. Union City is located in Hudson County, and is not related to Union County. This Hatzolah is very close to Passaic/Clifton, and can provide extra coverage for them. Union City members sometimes attend Passaic/Clifton events.
Looks good, I would just move the Clifton down and leave it as Passaic/Clifton, and comment that the Clifton area is the area immediately bordering Passaic, or something like that. Also, I believe HOPC has their own rabbinical board and doesn't use Lakewood. (Even if it does, the Rabbinic board might use them, but HOPC uses their rabbis. I don't know if it's even necessary to include that.) One thing I noticed is that it is very HOPC oriented. I don't know if that's an issue but it is something to look out for.
