There are only two articles at Wikipedia that begin with "Jack Lindsay": Jack Lindsay, which you moved to Jack Lindsay (writer), and Jack Lindsay (footballer, born 1921). No doubt there could be more in the future, but right now those are the only two at John Lindsay (disambiguation). So readers are best served with the writer as the primary topic and a hatnote directing readers to the article on the footballer. See Wikipedia:Primary topics in WP:TWODABS situations. Your move made it much more difficult for a reader who searched for Jack Lindsay to find the writer, since they would land on a page titled "John Lindsay (disambiguation)" and the Jack Lindsays were buried under "See also".
