Apprentice Series 4 edit

Hi

Thanks for your contributions to the article for this week, however I do have a reminder for you. To make sure that correct, and substantiated information is inserted into articles, you would do well to remember "more haste, less speed". Please try not to edit so fast at the expense of NOT providing an edit summary. Edit summaries are vital in providing a traceable history and helps in the fight against vandalism. To ensure your posts aren't mistakenly seen as vandalism, please can you take heed of this? Please feel free to respond, and thanks once again for helping to contribute to the article. Graphic designer needed edit

I'm looking for a skilled graphic designer.

I need an image for a non-barnstar Wikipedia award with the theme "World Traveler".

I was thinking perhaps the following image, without the barnstar, and with the globe (or another one) superimposed over the Wikipedia globe (or the Wikipedia globe superimposed over it) - I'd like to see the world's countries and the puzzle pieces. The image also needs a passport laying on the surface beneath the globe stand (where its shadow is, but the shadow should be retained as well). The image's background must be transparent (not white like the background of the image below).

File:Interlingual Barnstar.png

Is this something you can do?

By the way, credit for the design will be included on the image page, not in the image itself nor in the award.

I look forward to your reply.

The image would belong to Wikipedia, in the same way all the other Wikipedia logos do. I request that you do not copyright the images (including all developmental versions) for yourself whether or not it includes the Wikipedia logo. This is for the community. Besides you can't copyright derivations of copyleft works, as their licenses carry through to the new works. Have you read the GDFL? A week would be fine, as the competition doesn't start for 2 months. The Transhumanist 17:54, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Help Needed! edit

{{helpme}} Is there a way to preload text into an edit box and/or the edit summary box via the URL. Something like. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Sandbox&action=edit&action=preload=TEXT

Yes there is. I'll just find it for you. Stwalkerstertalk ] 13:01, 17 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
The following is a link to a subpage of my sandbox: User:Stwalkerster/Sandbox/Preload-Test. As you can see, it does not exist yet. If you follow the following link, it will go to the edit form, preloading the text at User:Stwalkerster/Sandbox/Preload-Test/preload into the edit box, and putting the text at User:Stwalkerster/Sandbox/Preload-Test/editintro before the edit box. This is most visible if you do not have preview on first edit switched on in your preferences, but it is still there nonetheless. This is the link to see it in action: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Stwalkerster/Sandbox/Preload-Test&action=edit&preload=User:Stwalkerster/Sandbox/Preload-Test/preload&editintro=User:Stwalkerster/Sandbox/Preload-Test/editintro . You can see the parameters I added to the URL (&preload= and &editintro=), both take the name of an already existant page, and use the text from those pages. If you want to know more about the parameters you can use, see mw:Manual:Parameters to index.php. I hope this helps, Stwalkerstertalk ] 13:12, 17 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Transparency edit

It was easier than I thought - only took several clicks in the Gimp. Here it is:

File:Globe stand with transparent background.png

The shadow may need to be adjusted to whatever background is selected for the final version of the award, but I'm not going to worry about that just yet.

The next step is to find a decent globe. The original was ruined by a barnstar being placed on top of it. The Transhumanist 01:03, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

you're welcome edit

Hello, you're welcome. I would have signed your guestbook even without the award, but thanks. Happy editing! --Kyoko 17:24, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Almost done edit

Now all it needs is a passport.

What about this edit

150px What about that? SimsFanTalkCentre of OpsSign and Get Award 19:39, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Where did you get the passport?
You can change the aspect ratio, and lay it down on the surface below the globe stand. The Transhumanist 19:50, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

How about using this? edit

I just created this passport front cover, from scratch using the GIMP and Image:Wikipedia logo gold.png.

Since we want to turn it, we need to give it pages, that is, depth, because passports have a thickness to them.

So, one thing we could do is replace the cover of an existing pic of a passport laying down with our new cover. This entails adding to the selected pic an alpha layer, clearing the white background (by selecting and clearing it - in the edit menu), and adding an additional layer for our cover. Then the size, perspective, and rotation of the new cover will need to be changed to fit over the old cover. Can you do this?

I look forward to seeing your results.
