Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, Simpleware wiki. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article ScanIP, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

• avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;

Wikipedia and copyright

Hello Simpleware wiki, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to ScanIP has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

• You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.

Hi, this image was not uploaded by myself - it was made by Codename Lisa - please see the Talk page for the edit.

Revision 785377206 contains extensive changes to the article, so much so that the edit summary was insufficient. Hence, here is a summary of what I did in it:

Reordered major sections. Previously, the article sections were ordered as "Import formats", "Export formats", "Add-on modules" and "Application areas". This clearly suboptimal to most readers. Why must they start with fancruft such as import formats, which is a list of what non-experts consider "computer gobbledygook"? I re-ordered the sections into "Application areas", "Add-on modules", "Import formats", and "Export formats". Dissolved the gallery section at the bottom of the article and distributed its contents across the article. One of its images went to the infobox that didn't have a screenshot at the time. Removed File:Product image example for Simpleware ScanIP.jpg from the article, as it is not showing anything educational or encyclopedic. It is a vague image at best. It can't even be used as the infobox icon. I will upload that myself shortly. MOS:CAPS and MOS:ACRONYM is extensively applied. MOS:LAYOUT is applied to "Application areas" and "Add-on modules" sections. Version number was updated. Plus sign from the module names was removed. (Deprecated) The "See also" section was deleted. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). By the way, ScanIP is not the best example to draw from. Use of the term "we"

Your use of the term "we" is confusing. It can be read two ways - 1) that multiple people edit with this account, or 2) that only one person uses the account BUT the person is speaking on behalf of a group.

This is confusing. If you use "we" to refer to a group of people, please make sure that the group is "defined" earlier in the same comment. For example, "My supervisor and I believe that XYZ should be changed... We ...." is perfectly fine. "I work for and edit on behalf of XYZ, and we think XYZ should be change..." is also fine. But just saying "We" makes me wonder "Was it Alice editing yesterday, is Bob editing today, and will Charlie be editing tomorrow?"

To add to what Oshwah said above, if you are more than one person, that's against the rules, every editor needs to have their own account. Even if you are just one person I recommend changing your username to make it clear that this is one person and it will not be "handed off" to another person.
