Good job edit

Really nice start to the reconstruction of the List of oldest continually-inhabited cities page. The AfD was not going to pass, and instead of sulking you got on and did something about it. Thanks a lot. Batmanand | Talk

Cheers, I still wont be claiming much credit for it, and it is still quite a mess, although I think that most of the places that consider themselves 'in contention' for the title are there somewhere (I'm thinking Byblos, Damascus, Arbil, Varanasi, Jericho [will deal with that later, as a lot of people think it is and the archaeological evidence is overwhelmingly against it]). In any case, it's better than it was. --Si42 19:28, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
No problem. Hope your first experiences of AfD were not too harsh... I try to maintain good relations with as many people as possible, and part of that includes not biting newbies, assuming good faith and commending people on their efforts when I think they deserve commendation. I got into the New College, Oxford team for the series after the one currently being broadcast. I haven't actually filmed yet; the rounds start in June. It should be pretty cool. But then I suppose all those hours on Wikipedia have prepared me well! Batmanand | Talk 01:25, 16 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't worry - we aren't all rich, posh or stuck up twats. Hell, I seem to spend far more of my time at Oxford in clubs than in the library... Batmanand | Talk 01:38, 16 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oldest cities edit

Hello! Just to let you know for future, it is really bad form to remove the AfD tag from a page if you are not the closing Admin following due process. Vandals frequently do this and are warned to this effect. I don't imply that you are such a person as your edit history demonstrates otherwise. AfD articles are left for five days after the end of the discussion before closure, in order to allow time for the editors/author to make sufficient changes to the article, if possible. If the closing admin sees that such changes have been made, this then affects the outcome of the closure of the debate. Please note this for future reference.
