I've deleted the uncited statements in this article blaming declining birth rates on female academic and economic achievement. For starters, these statements were not cited. Also, if we're allowing uncited statements regarding causation there are many other reasons one could come up with for declining birth rates. One reason being industrialization and the fact that children don't participate in the work force as they do in agricultural economies. Another reason would be that child raising work (when it's your own child) is unpaid and therefore less attractive when compared with paying jobs in a market economy.
