Creating templates

edit

Hi - You asked about creating templates. Looking at your contributions today, it would appear you've figured it out. Do you still need any help? -- Rick Block (talk) 00:50, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I kinda figured it out myself. Thanks anyway for asking. Shinas 10:12, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yar Shinas. I am so sorry about this but I am coming back after SUCH a long time. I dont remember how to edit this.

I would be very thankful if you could make the necessary changes.

Mapmaking

edit

Sorry, I somehow overlooked your message. Really, I'm not sure how to best go about creating maps for Pakistan, although it's probably easier than a world map, because you don't have to worry much about map projections. If you have a fairly detailed map of Pakistan (such as this, or similar), that can show you the borders (ideally checking multiple maps). If you have a graphics program that supports multiple layers (eg Paint Shop Pro or GIMP), you can use this to compare your map with theirs as you draw it. You could, in fact, simply "trace" a map of Pakistan using these programs — set the source maps as background, create a transparent layer over the top, and draw your own map over them. (Since you want a PNG map rather than SVG, no need to worry about vector graphics.) If you need to know the exact colour specifications for the grey, its RGB values are all 185 with an alpha of 255 — or, in hex, the colour is b9b9b9.) However, I'm not sure that these colours are still "officially approved" — you might want to check around about that. Hope that helps. -- Vardion 22:51, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi — yes, that map looks fine to me. Nice work. -- Vardion 21:40, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Usually, you can use an image on Commons the same way as you use an image uploaded to the English Wikipedia — just using [[Image:BlankMap-Pakistan.PNG]] should do it. However, if there's a file of the same name on the English Wikipedia, I think it overrides the one on Commons — I think you need to get rid of the first image in order for the second one to work, but I don't know what the process for that is. (Or, you could upload the newer image to Commons under a different file name, I suppose). -- Vardion 19:37, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non free images

edit

Hi there, Sorry, but I've had to remove the image Image:Flag1.gif from your user page; non-free images can only be used on articles, not in userspace, due to copyright issues. Sorry about that. See WP:NFCC#9 for more info.
