Please get consensus on talk pages before further legend changes

edit

Your legend edits on a couple articles are being reverted by others. You are reading the legends wrong.

Please get consensus on talk pages before further legend changes. Otherwise you are likely to be blocked for edit warring.

This is the article I edit often:

Central and South America have high murder rates. That is why they are darker. --Timeshifter (talk) 13:43, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Look at the legend and the map. The legend before my changes has the higher murder rates as a lighter colour, while map has countries with high murder rates as a darker colour. All I did was change the legend to reflect the map. Shikomu (talk) 13:47, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

(Unindent). Please see: Commons: File talk:World murder rate map 2.svg - This is the correct legend:

   < 1
  1–5
  5–10
  10–21.1
   > 21.1

[1]And look at the map. With the above legend. With that legend, Germany has an intentional homicide rate over over 21 per 100k, and Honduras has an intentional homicide rate less than 1 per 100k. That is wrong and makes no sense. Shikomu (talk) 14:32, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Germany has a homicide rate of 0.95 per 100,000 population according to:
List of countries by intentional homicide rate
That is less than 1 per 100,000. Just like the lightest color of the legend says. Are you sure you are looking at Germany on the map?
Honduras rate is 38.93 per 100,000 population.
The map and the legend give it the darkest color. That color is for 21.1 or higher.

Are you looking at the map at footnote 1 from my last comment? It clearly shows Honduras in dark blue. The legend above has dark blue with a low homicide rate. Shikomu (talk) 14:52, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm so sorry. The dark mode swapped the colors. Please disregard. Shikomu (talk) 14:58, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
How are you getting dark mode? I would like to see the problem. It sounds like a bug that I, you, or others might pass on to the mediawiki developers at WP:Phabricator so they can fix the problem. --Timeshifter (talk) 16:30, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm getting into dark mode through Preferences/Gadgets. The final option on the bottom. I've already communicated it to Volker via email, but thank you for pointing this out as well. Shikomu (talk) 16:40, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
