Image without license edit

Unspecified source/license for File:SwitchboardNameIcon.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:SwitchboardNameIcon.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 19:45, 12 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

File:SwitchboardNameIcon.png edit

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:08, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:SwitchboardNameIcon.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:SwitchboardNameIcon.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 05:09, 19 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

May 2019 edit

Hello, I'm Orville1974. I noticed that you recently removed content from JD Lawrence without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. I'm confused. Did you intend to blank the article you've just written? If so, please undo my correction. Orville1974 (talk) 19:15, 27 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

==Re:JD Lawrence==

Hello! Thanks for the notification on the recent deletion of JD Lawrence. I went to a page(about a book) which talked about my subject(JD Lawrence). I saw the highlighted name and clicked it and realized that it did not link my subject's page to it. It said to create a new article for JD Lawrence(playwright). I created a page before it with just my subject's name and it was deemed as an "orphaned page", which meant that nothing linked to it. So I deleted the page because I put the content on a new page which linked to another page on Wikipedia and accurately provided his name with occupation in parenthesis as the title. So technically, there are 2 articles about the subject out right now. I wanted to keep J.D. Lawrence(playwright) and get rid of JD Lawrence. Sorry for not leaving an edit summary! If there's a better, process for doing this, do let me know so in the future, I can keep this in mind! Thank you! Shibainu21 (talk) 19:25, 27 May 2019 (UTC)SI21Reply

You shouldn't cut and paste the contents to a new page, because the history behind the page is lost. Going forward, you should move the page to the new page name. That will preserve all of the prior edits. The move option is in the more tab at the top of the article. Orville1974 (talk) 19:34, 27 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give JD Lawrence a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into J. D. Lawrence (playwright). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of JD Lawrence edit

A tag has been placed on JD Lawrence requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

This page was incorrectly copy/pasted to J.D. Lawrence (playwright). The history merge has been completed successfully on the new page, so this page can now be deleted.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
