Sheshed edit

Hello Nihonjoe, I'm a wiki newbie. I watch lots of anime and read lots of manga. It's time to contribute to the literature. Please help me out by pointing me to some small mundane tasks where I can become more comfortable with wiki and the process. For example I hope I've added to this page correctly. I'll check back in a few days. Thank-you for what ever direction you can provide. Eventaully I'll get to the point where I can add my self to the the projects.

P.S. I can read kana, and recognize a few kanji.--Sheshed (talk) 00:46, 30 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I recommend starting out by reading this, remembering there is useful information here, and making yourself familiar with these. It's a little bit of work, but it will help you in the long run to at least be familiar with those things. Once you're done with that, I recommend becoming familiar with both WP:MOS-JA and WP:MOS-AM as those are the most relevant Manuals of Style when editing anime and manga articles here.
Then, look at the articles listed here as those are the ones the project has noted as needing help in one way or another. Welcome! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:41, 30 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank-you Nihonjoe.
Let me poke around the links listed and see about editing a page or two this weekend.

Locating and acquiring reference materials edit

Hello Hihonjoe. I've been working to located decent reference materials whether on-line or hard copy. I've read the books by Susan Napier and Frederick L. Schodt. I see several of the references listed are in Japanese. I wondering which is a good one to begin with and how did you get a hold of them. My Japaneses isn't the greatest, however I working to have it get better. If you can recommend a decent dictionary to go with the materials let me know.

I used to have subscriptions to Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat. I occassionally pick-up copies of Otaku USA and Newtype USA to read. The local library in my town has subscriptions to these magazines.

How do I use these magazines as references? Sheshed (talk) 15:51, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I recommend using the {{cite}} series of templates. For magazines, use the {{cite journal}} template within <ref></ref> tags. You can see examples of this in articles such as Aardman Animations (see ref 1) and Lolicon (there are a lot of examples throughout the article). ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 04:06, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank-you Nihonjoe I'll practice with them on my discussion page Sheshed (talk) 19:34, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello I'm a newbie! my id is Sheshed edit

I've been staring at a couple of manga/anime pages, specifically Sauyuki, and trying to figure out where to get the information for references. I like anime and manga. I've gone through so much, I figure it's time to contribute to the cause. ;-) {{adoptoffer}}

Adoption accepted edit

Hello! I'm around most days off and on. Mostly on. I've been studying the ropes of Wikipedia myself for the last couple years, and began editing as Mjpresson in January 2008 after deciding to get more serious about it. I'll be glad to try and help with anything I can, and I have a lot of resources that are helpful to new editors. My status is autoconfirmed editor, same as you. Please let me know either here or on my talk page to confirm. Welcome! Mjpresson (talk) 21:46, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
