Please help me with... I want to upload an image to a particular wiki page ... how can i do that ... everytime i am uploading its been uploaded to an isolated page ... Sheikh Salman Nihal (talk) 17:13, 12 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello Sheikh Salman Nihal, again Welcome to Wikipedia. Looking at your contributions, it appears that you are willing to add an image into St Gregory's School (Dhaka) article for which you uploaded one as, File:Main building SGHS.jpg. Firstly, I wanted to let you know that images you've uploaded and want to upload on Wikipedia must have few essential information, such as, source and author of the image, and most importantly licence information compatible to Wikipedia's copyright policy. Wikipedia prefers to have free contents, that could be edited, reproduced and distributed by anyone, for any purpose, even commercial, although giving credit to author(s). In very few cases, it accepts non-free contents. At present, your upload is missing these essential information and failing to provide such may result in deletion of the image. Please edit the image description page and write in there, source, author and license information for the image. If you've clicked the image yourself, you may use one of these compatible free license templates. If you've not clicked it yourself but have permission to use and release it any Wikipedia-compatible free licenses, please send the permission-letter to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Please note that you must not get the images copied from Google or any other online copyright protected websites to use them on Wikipedia. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously. Once you've done that, you may use the image in relevant Wikipedia articles, just place it in a correct format, such as, [[File:Main building SGHS.jpg|thumb|right or left or center|caption of the image]]. I hope, it does help. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 18:40, 12 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have sent a mail to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org as you suggested and i have given the link of the group that holds copyright and the one who has clicked . Do i need to always provide these because i always post images from that reference . Sometimes you can find those in google but that don't conflict copyright because whenever some tags the name google automatically keeps it ... But autentically the copyright of the images are lied in Gregorian group
Yes. Everytime you upload a photo on Wikipedia, you'll have to provide its source, author and license information. In cases, where you are not the copyright holder, you'll need to send the permission-letter to "permissions-commons@wikimedia.org" to verify your claim of having permission from them to use and release their images into a Wikipedia-compatible free license. And, please sign your talk page messages at the end your post not the very beginning. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 10:09, 13 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please help me with...

Sheikh Salman Nihal (talk) 19:08, 12 December 2014 (UTC) Hi, Thanks for your co-operation ... In your message you mentioned that i must give the reference and can't copy them from google as per copyright policy ... I am having those picture from Archives of our Magazine "The Gregorian" and some are from a facebook group "Gregorian" ... I have taken permission from the group admin to use this photos ... Is it okay to just tag it in the reference link ... How should i do it ??? and how to control the changes in this page ... cause i am working pretty hard to edit and those can be justified as well but what if someone edit and delete those ... Please provide this page some protection ...Reply

Hi again, You need to have permission from 'copyright holder' of the image, not anyone else. Copyright holder is one, who created/clicked the image. If you don't know who is copyright holder of image or have no permission from them, you must not upload those images on Wikipedia. As they will ultimately be deleted and as Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, the repeated violators may get their editing privileges revoked. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 19:29, 12 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sheikh Salman Nihal (talk) 19:32, 12 December 2014 (UTC) I have taken the permission but how will i tag them ???Reply

If you've permission from the copyright holder to release their images in a free license that will allow anyone to copy, edit, reproduce and distribute for any purpose even commercial, however giving back them credit for images, then send the permission-letter to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and tag the relative images with {{OTRS pending}} template. File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Main building SGHS.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 19:30, 12 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
