June 2018 edit

Hello, I'm Cyphoidbomb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. Diffs: [1] In these edits, you appear to have fabricated the title of a referenced article to assert a fact that the article does not make. The article title is "Colors’ Kasam completes 500 episodes" not "Colors’ Kasam completes 500 episodes, thus, becoming the seventh longest-running Indian television series of Colors TV till date!" Don't do this again. This is indistinguishable from vandalism, and just looks like you're trying to fluff up the importance of the series with arbitrary records/milestones. Do we care about the fourteenth longest-running series on Colors TV? Twenty-third longest-running series? Meaningless, arbitrary records/milestones. Please don't resubmit this without seeking consensus first. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:23, 29 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, List of longest-running Indian television series of Colors TV. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – List of longest-running Indian television series.   Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Diffs: [2][3] Additionally you should be discussing major changes like this before creating content forks. Please resolve the copyright issues ASAP, as this is the most important thing. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:09, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your recent editing history at Sasural Simar Ka shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Please STOP deleting material and discuss what you are doing on the article talk page. You are past the 3 revert limit and you can be blocked if you continue. Ravensfire (talk) 04:47, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

File:Sasural Simar Ka.png edit

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:05, 15 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Manual of Style and MOS:HEAD edit

Sheena, you keep making the same editorial mistakes over and over and I'm getting a little bit tired of making the same fixes over and over. In these changes you mistakenly introduce incorrect capitalisation to the section headings. Per MOS:HEAD we use "Sentence case" not "Title Case" for section headings. Do you see the difference in capitalisation? "Main cast" is correct. "Main Cast" is not. Even if a section were something long like "Early introduction into theatre", that's how we would write it, not "Early Introduction Into Theatre". Please take note of this. Also, you shouldn't be using em dashes "—" in those changes, you should have used en dashes "–". You really need to familiarise yourself with our Manual of Style if you plan to edit here. The MOS tells readers what the community preferences are for all sorts of formatting, from italics to bold, dates, numbers, currencies, regional language variations, etc. Please take time to refer to those, and as a general rule if you notice that changes you've made have been reverted, check the article's history to find out why. In this edit I explained that I was making changes to bring the article closer to MOS conformity.

Additionally in this edit Gareema Jain should not have been moved to the bottom of the list. Per WP:TVCAST people who are introduced into the series early on go at the top of the list. People who come later are added to the bottom of the list. Since Jain played Ravi Singh first, they would belong higher up in the list. We present the entire history of the show, not just the current information. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:09, 16 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I guess I wasn't done educating you. "Former cast" is not a valid subsection of cast. Per WP:TVCAST, cast members don't stop being of academic importance simply because they've left the series. As noted above, we want older members of cast at the top, and newer ones at the bottom. Consider also that if the series were cancelled, you'd have to put everybody into the Former cast section, which would just be ridiculous. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:15, 16 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Mughal-E-Azam (TV series) does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Diffs: [4] It's unclear why you made the changes you did, deleting content and leaving the article as a redirect. What happened? You should be explaining your edits by using edit summaries.   Hello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that you recently removed content from Mughal-E-Azam (TV series) without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Moving articles to new titles edit

When you want to change the title of an article, you can't create a new article with the contents from the old one and then change the old one into a redirect. Ask here to have the old article moved, and don't forget to provide a reliable source showing why the title should be changed. Since you have already created a new article, it's easiest if you ask to have that removed, first, but you can also ask to have the new content overwritten. --bonadea contributions talk 08:45, 2 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at Mughal-E-Azam (TV series), you may be blocked from editing. Thank you. Jim1138 (talk) 08:52, 2 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Re: this, the series is not called "Kasautii Zindagii Kay (2018 TV series)", right? Like, the new series doesn't have the parenthetical with the date and the description that it is a TV series, right? You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits. Note that indefinite does not mean forever, but it does mean for the foreseeable future. Since you have not responded to any query or warning issued to you, I'm concerned that you're just ignoring the community, and this block is being implemented to encourage you to respond to the various issues other editors have brought to your attention.
  • While you are very prolific, you continue to use extraordinarily poor references, like iwmbuzz.com, tellychakkar, cattybilli.com, filmymonkey.com. Apparently you think that if a website exists, it's a reliable source? What's your stance on this? Why do you continue to use poor references? As you've previously been apprised, you should familiarise yourself with the references found at WP:ICTF#Guidelines on sources, as they are generally applicable to Indian TV/film/entertainment articles.
  • You keep adding content about where TV shows were placed in time lineups and what series' they replaced. You have been repeatedly reverted by other editors for this, and you have been apprised that this is problematic, for contravening WP:NOTTVGUIDE, yet you keep doing it. and there's no suggestion at MOS:TV (your bible for TV articles) that any of that should be included. Even if you were to argue for a local consensus that the content should be included, it would not belong in the lead.
  • Here you create a reception section that doesn't attempt to summarise anything, rather, you're just slapping in positive quotations. There's no contrary opinions, just praise, and the entire section is a quote mill.
  • You also keep making basic WP:MOS errors, like erroneously capitalising words that shouldn't be capitalised, like "show" and "every" and "primetime slot", and in some cases convert perfectly valid commas to dashes, (see cast section) for some reason known only to you, since you do not use edit summaries. Here you add italics to a translation of the film's title, even though that is not actually the film's title.
  • These are some of the problems. The fact that you do not participate in discussion makes it difficult to communicate to you. I do have some questions, though: What other accounts have you edited from in the past? Are you a paid editor? If you are being paid or are being enriched in some way for your edits, you are required to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation".

A lot of your edits are constructive, so it's a shame to have to take you offline, but if you are violating our policies or our content guidelines, or otherwise using Wikipedia as a forum for promotion and trying to force a cookie-cutter article shape preferred by, say, Colors TV, that would not be acceptable.

If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:04, 12 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Dastaan-E-Mohabbat: Salim Anarkali edit

The article Dastaan-E-Mohabbat: Salim Anarkali has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability yet - no sources other than a brief and tentative notice about an upcoming show which has changed names several times since then. Originally created by UPE editor, who is now blocked, so clear promotional issues as well.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. bonadea contributions talk 12:02, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
