Proposed deletion of Wes Sechrest edit

The article Wes Sechrest has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. reddogsix (talk) 05:10, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Wes Sechrest edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wes Sechrest requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.globalwildlife.org/about-gwc/team/wes-sechrest/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. reddogsix (talk) 05:13, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

April 2018 edit

  Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Wes Sechrest. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. reddogsix (talk) 05:22, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Art into Acres edit

The article Art into Acres has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Can find no reliable sources that discuss this organization, and only a few for its sister organization "Art to Acres". Most of the sources used in the article, and most of the entries in the Bibliography, are actually about a different group -- The Nature Conservancy -- and do not mention Art into Acres, and this article does not describe any connection that the two groups may have. Possibly a violation of WP:PROMOTION.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 17:33, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Art into Acres edit

Hello. Are you connected in any way to Art into Acres? The article is quite promotional.--- Possibly (talk) 01:48, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Sharon. Thanks for your guiding my improvement.
I took a Wiki coding class a MOMA and it has been some time. Wanting to get back into it, so I am working on 3 stubs this weekend: NY artist, LA museum, and eco-activism, and started one today. Sorry, my article seemed promotional. I believe in art and climate - that is my interest. I will work on the tone tomorrow. If you can point out what is off, I'll do it!! Thanks Possibly, Sharon Herrera (talk) 04:20, 18 April 2021 (UTC) Sharon Herrera pasted from my talk page--- Possibly (talk) 04:26, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
thanks. I have pasted your reply on my talk page here, to keep the discussion together. Good on you for working on such interesting topics. You did not answer if you have a connection to the Art into Acres subject? It seems that you have been editing the page on the director of Art into Acres, Haley Mellin, since 2013, eight years ago!--- Possibly (talk) 04:26, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I took her class at MOMA! That is the connection that I mentioned earlier. Is that not OK? I thought I wrote a good article, and followed all the cues. This is somewhat discouraging. Can you show me where I went wrong on the article? Sharon Herrera (talk) 04:48, 18 April 2021 (UTC) SharonReply
A reviewer will look at your article and let you know if it can stay up. From what I see, you have been trying to promote Art into Acres, both on the current page and earlier on Haley Mellin's page (example, example, example). My advice is to stop using Wikipedia to promote that organization, as WP:NOTPROMOTION. Pushing a subject in a non-neutral way as you have done on both pages actually does more harm than good to your cause, as it brings the scrutiny of experienced editors, and we tend to err on the side of caution. Good night. --- Possibly (talk) 04:55, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Sharon Herrera. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --- Possibly (talk) 04:56, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
