Welcome!

edit

Hello, Sharmaleadership, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!   Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Robin Sharma. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Please read WP:NOTPROMO

edit

Wikipedia is not a promotional medium and the overwhelmingly self-laudatory language you reinstated in this article is not appropriate for an encyclopedia. Please read as well Wikipedia's policies regarding external links, reliable sources, and verifiability, and the Manual of Style's provisions regarding use of surnames rather than first names in encyclopedia articles. I also reiterate that there is a clear conflict of interest based on your username and you must comply with Wikipedia's policies in that regard. Julietdeltalima (talk) 15:50, 5 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Username issue

edit

The name of Sharma's company is Sharma Leadership International Inc. (SLI).

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Sharmaleadership", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Jytdog (talk) 18:11, 6 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Integrity

edit

Hi - the reason that we manage conflicts of interest in Wikipedia, is that Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it.

As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you want to be involved in articles where you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).

Please use the information in the notice above to fix your account name, and then reply here so I can help you get oriented as to how we manage COI here, as well as the other norms that govern content and behavior here in Wikipedia.

Please do be aware that WP:Wikipedia is in the real world, and conflicted, promotional editing often boomerangs and harms the reputation of the conflicted editor. Working with the community to manage COI is better for everyone. I look forward to hearing from you. Jytdog (talk) 18:14, 6 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Bishonen | talk 09:43, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Editing using multiple accounts or while logged out

edit

Hi. It appears that you have been using multiple accounts, or have edited while logged out, in a manner that contravenes Wikipedia policy. Please see the investigation at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sharmaleadership. Please be very careful to avoid the appearance of abuse of multiple accounts, or editing while logged out, as a tool to avoid scrutiny. As you are currently subject to a block, any edit you make outside this account will be viewed as block evasion and may be reverted. Let me know if you have any questions.
