March 2023 (Law enforcement in Australia) edit

Hello, I'm Mako001. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Law enforcement in Australia, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Mako001 (C)  (T)  🇺🇦 07:13, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

If this is about Pursuit Powers, I have a possible source that could cite this information, Sydney Criminal Lawyers.

You could, but you will need to present the counter-argument too, which is also presented in the lawyers page, i.e. the validity of PIT etc. in an Australian context is questionable, and that many studies, and coronial and inquiries (here and here; and with more recent iterations of the same) review the position on a regular basis and pertaining to deaths of the public as part of police-initiated actions. The opinion of the WA Union president is one individual, and not one that is ratified by the other police unions. Yes, it is a controversy, but not one held by the public. Controversies would be unresolved systemic police corruption, failures to rectify the lack of diversity within membership, and avoidance of responding to domestic violence. However as Mako001 indicated, find some good reliable sources, present the arguments for all sides, etc., and then consider whether to include a paragraph. Use your sandbox first as practice, then copy the code across.–Q8682 (talk) 09:51, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
(By the way, please ensure all images you are uploading are copyright-free. For instance one image was taken from Facebook, but the image is still owned by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. Has that department stated it is in the public domain or a stated creative commons? In this instance they have said it has CC 4.0, but you need to add '© State of New South Wales (Department of Communities and Justice)' – but as the material is hosted on Facebook, and not their website, then you will need to write to them or find an appropriate reference allowing you to reproduce their material. The other thing: If you can add the year of the image, to help distinguish the image file from similarly-named files. Regards,–Q8682 (talk) 09:51, 31 March 2023 (UTC))Reply

March 2023 (Queensland Police Service) edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I noticed that you made a change to an article, Queensland Police Service. I have changed 'Motorcycle' to 'motorcycle', and similarly for other phrases, as they are not proper nouns or cited by the organisation in that way. Please do not change them back.

I did not change Highway Patrol as that is its current name. Those units were within Road Policing Command, which is now Road Policing and Regional Support Command – but highway patrol units are now under each district, not that command. The photograph of the Levorg however uses the RPC livery of 2021.

It is good to provide meaningful image labels, without jargon and abbreviations, e.g. 'Bodyworn Equipment + High-vis'. The item is an 'integrated load-bearing vest', with high visibility panels. The photograph source should indicate what each of the accoutrements is (hence why I have not labelled each item on the ILBV: Baton, portable radio, handcuffs, Axon Body 3 body-worn camera, with rank epaulette and name tag).

Here are a few good links for newcomers:

But don't forget to:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! –Q8682 (talk) 07:39, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Cheers for that Mako, just trying to update some of this information that has been outdated for quite some time I hope I didn't I didn't cause you too much trouble. Thanks for looking out. Shaql (talk) 07:55, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Further re Dodge Charger edit

I have removed the following paragraph from Queensland Police Service:

Two Dodge Charger Pursuit vehicles made landfall in Queensland in 2021, outfitted for police work and converted to right-hand-drive, they were rumoured to be under evaluation by Queensland Police. It has yet to be officially confirmed however.[1]

As the article you cited stated:

UPDATE, 3:50pm 19/07/2021 – CarExpert has contacted Queensland Police to see if the Charger is being evaluated for a role on the force, as is claimed by SCD. Until it’s confirmed, we’ve removed mention of a trial from our story.

It is over two years old. There is no indication any of these vehicles are in the fleet, so it is just hearsay, which is not the role of Wikipedia. While the source may be a reliable source, the contents do not improve the article.–Q8682 (talk) 31 March 2023

March 2023 (Images) edit

Please have a read of your Wikimedia talk pages. Images you used from Flickr and elsewhere were not given creative commons approval. Have a read of the information and time will make you a great Wikipedian – we're always learning and improving. Adding images is different to crafting paragraphs, each having their own requirements for quality and validation.–Q8682 (talk) 01:04, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
