Let me know. MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:25, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

I am very thankful for ur support and trying to follow valuable advices but i need to know how i can add pictures to the article PRS COCHIN

Greetings, have you yet read WP:Image use policy? Please read and understand that carefully. Long story short, any images you have must be either out of copyright (varies by country, but if it's pre-1923 that makes it a lot easier), have been released to the Public Domain, or pictures where the copyright holder is known and can email an "OTRS" permission slip to release the rights to the image. Please read the documentation and see if any of the circumstances listed describe the images you wish to use. MatthewVanitas (talk) 16:05, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please keep only _one_ version at a time

edit

Greetings, please do not have multiple copies of articles; due to your changes, auto-deletions etc. I've had to make the exact same edits at your article several times because my changes are being lost between drafts. The current article is Palluruthy Relief Settlement, so please redirect any other drafts by erasing their content and typing: #Redirect [[Palluruthy Relief Settlement]].

Your current article needs to be footnoted; you provide References at the bottom but give no indication which articles bear evidence to which assertions above. Please check through your references and turn them to proper footnotes; see WP:Footnotes for guidance. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:15, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you its alrady redirected and now the work is clear let me do a proper homework through refrences for adding footnotes thanks a lot

No worries, this stuff can be confusing on the first go-round. But I take it you have a much clearer idea of the process now that you've gone most of the way through it? That should make life a lot easier on your subsequent articles. Once you finish up, I do recommend you pop into the Discussion tab of WP:WikiProject India and say hello, show folks your article, maybe tell them what topics you plan to cover in the future. It can be most helpful to meet other people covering your area of interest who can inspire you. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:15, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Footnoting

edit

Greeting, note footnotes 3) and 4) of the article, and how I've made them full, clear citations. What you want to do is do that with each link you have, and make sure it's footnoted to the fact it proves. Some of your links are already WP:Dead links since the pages have moved, so I can't even tell what article they're trying to link to. With a proper citation, you at least know the all the basic facts about the source material. I think the article is about 90% done (in its current form at least), so cleaning up the links into proper citations will take it most of the way to completion. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:28, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ok I will try to remove the dead links and to make the sources more precise i am getting a good support than i expected from Wikipedia editors like you

Dear Sir,regarding Vagarancy Act- PRS is based on the Vagrancy Act of Indian Parliament the point u put is very imp but the details need little more clarification i will collect the exact details about the Act from Peoples Council for Social Justice which is an association of Lawyers and Judges in Kerala,India.

No problem, any cited clarification is good. I just included that bit since it was the only mention of PRS I could find in a published book on GoogleBooks, which really helps round-out the references. Oh, make sure to sign your posts on Talk pages, by typing ~~~~, or hitting the "sign" button (image of a pen) that's at the top of your editing window, next to the "B", "I", and icon of a photograph. If you're replying to somebody, it's best to indent your post one to the right of theirs; I indented using one colon ":", so when you reply to this use two colons so it's easier to see where my comment ends and yours starts. If there are too many colons and identing has gone too far, type {{deindent}} a the top of your post and it will slide the discourse back over to the left. All this just makes it easier to read conversations. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:52, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

15:40, 17 April 2011 (UTC)Shankarr1977 (talk) I have made an edit cochin vagrancy act and added the refrence ....sir could u please advise its ok

Why did you remove a perfectly good citation I made? M. D. Asthana; Sabir Ali; Council for Social Delvelopment (India) (2004). Urban poverty in India: issues and policies. Uppal Pub. House. p. 69. ISBN 9788176580229. Retrieved 8 April 2011. That was good info and proved a point, and you chopped it out. You still have the issue of footnotes #2 and #3 not being proper citations; compare them to #1 and #4 which have a full who/what/when/where. Further, you introduced several copyediting errors, like leaving no space between a period and start of the sentence. You also have a list of random links at the bottom with no explanation; take the ones from reputable news or government organisations (The Hindu, etc.) and spell out the article names as full citations. If there is clear discussion of PRS in the link, why not turn the link into an actual footnote proving a particular sentence, rather than just lumping it at the bottom? Noting personal, it's just that it can be frustrating to give advice and not perceive it followed. Please also frequently use the "Preview" button; that way you can see if changes you've made look "off" when viewed. And don't forget to provide an Edit Summary (the little text window below the editing window) to provide an explanation of what you've changed each time before you hit Save. "Social Welfare" at article Kochi

edit

Greetings, couple quick things. When you asked me that question above, instead of typing 'COCHIN', why not actually link to the article, Kochi? Second, please sign at the end. No worries, just takes getting used to.

I read your additions, and it's overall useful, but needs a little ironing out. First, the tone is a bit too emotional, so please refrain from phrases like "also very remarkable", as that is a matter of opinion. Next, if you note which numbers are your footnotes, and then look how they display at the bottom, several have "title errors" appearing in red that you want to fix. Others are WP:Bare URLs that you'll want to turn into full citations. The only other thing is that you have some very short paragraphs of only a line or two; if possible it's best to work some transitional phrasing so they can be included in a larger paragraph, as a section gets too "choppy" if it skips rapidly from small paragraph to small paragraph without making clear linages between examples. So good initiative, just a few things you're steadily improving on formatting and tone. Feel free to post with any questions, and I also recommend you post on Kochi's "Discussion" page and mention that you made a new section and would like input on it. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:49, 23 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

As per your advice i have changed the "also very remarkable", usuage and tried to make it it into big paragrapgh. The errors shown in sources i changed in a simple way.But as u said there are bare url i need still learn how to do it properly. Thanks for the advice next time WHEN i request to look into a page i will try to provide a link ...like Kochi right? I also posted my request for feedback in Kochi discussion page I am getting a very professional support from u Thanks Shankarr1977 (talk) 19:17, 24 April 2011 (UTC) Shankarr1977 (talk) 19:17, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good, getting better every day. Note how I type a ":" at the start of my reply so it indents, when you reply to this you can type "::" at the start of your to indent next further. Yes, always provide a link when mentioning another page in Talk, so folks can find it easily. Good work on communicating on Kochi discussion to get more input from other editors. Many Wikipedia articles on India are, unfortunately, of patchy quality due to editors who don't bother to learn any Wikipedia conventions, and provide reams of poorly-coypedited info totally lacking in citation. So it's up to editors like you and me, who focus on accuracy and transparency, to do the improving of India articles. Nice work! MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:51, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
