Speedy deletion of Lisa Wickham

edit

A tag has been placed on Lisa Wickham, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:04, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Lisa Wickham

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Lisa Wickham, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Notability is suspect at best. Article reads like a resume or news release. Unsourced and cannot be independently verified.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 14:29, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Lisa Wickham

edit

I have nominated Lisa Wickham, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lisa Wickham. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 17:13, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you

edit

The article you created, Lisa_Wickham maybe deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster your respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved. This is because deletion debates only stay open for a few days, and the first comments are usually the most important.

There are several tools and other editors who can help you keep the page from being deleted forever:

  1. You can list the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. If you need help listing your page, add a comment on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
  2. You can request a mentor to help explain to you all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted, here: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond on the deletion page.
  3. When try to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list of your own acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept.
Acronyms in deletion debates are sometimes incorrectly used, or ignore rules or exceptions.
  4. You can merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.

If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 21:38, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with Lisa Wickham. Doing so won't stop the discussion from taking place. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the appropriate page. Thank you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:58, 1 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme}} I created an article for Lisa Wickham and accidentally Saved and published it. I'd like very much to prevent the article from being deleted. Can i start over from the beginning with your help?

I think it's on the edge right now. A couple of the sources are decent. I can see the afd being closed as keep by means of no consensus (there doesn't seem to be much pull either way), but overall it reads very promotionally. Read WP:NPOV. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 01:57, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I disagree. The article is way too promotional, and you repeatedly violated Wikipedia policy (after several warnings) by removing deletion notices, which is why you were blocked. Please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia policies for creating new articles before you proceed. It is likely that the article will be deleted because 1) Wickham does not meet notability standards and 2) the article appears to be largely a promotional article on her behalf, which is expressly forbidden as spam. If it does stay because of a lack of consensus, it will have to be greatly improved to meet Wikipedia standards, or it will likely face another deletion nomination. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 02:36, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme}} I have re-edited this article and would like to know if this article meets Wikipedia's standards

{{helpme}} Hi, please bear with me as I figure this out. I have seen where it was mentioned that my first external link in the previous edit was unsuitable because it was a scanned image, but I used it because it was off the Government of Trinidad and Tobago National Library Service list of prominent people of T&T. Please advise. Thanks

{{helpme}} Hi, I've made more changes to the Lisa Wickham article. Does it meet Wikipedia's standards?

You haven't solved the primary problem, which is the fact that you are obviously promoting this person. Promotion of any kind is simply not allowed. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 20:26, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme}} I am not clear what you mean by promoting her. Ms. Wickham is a notable person in the Caribbean and I wanted to have her information up. Please tell me what needs to be done and I'll make the necessary changes.

License tagging for File:Jones P Madeira.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Jones P Madeira.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:09, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Jones_P_Madeira.jpg

edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Jones_P_Madeira.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 12:42, 21 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Datelineshow.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 13:06, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
