This heavily favours mainstream news media, academic press, and reputable publishers of newspapers, books and magazines. Sources must also be independent of the topic under discussion, with no vested personal, political or financial interest.

Social media sites are by definition self-published by the subject. They lack the required editorial review and independence, and are therefore considered to be unreliable sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself.

I have looked at some of these in the AfD discussion, and, if the consensus is Keep, I think the article should be renamed "The Pearl Island, Qatar" (though there will also need to be a consensus on that).
