A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Sgmtbs, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages: user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for businesses.

If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to your user talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also edit this page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Peridon (talk) 17:24, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Sgmtbs, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

Please choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. However, do not create a new account if you wish to credit your existing contributions to a new name through a username change. To request a username change:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to edit this talk page even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a list of names that have already been taken. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.  —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 05:19, 7 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Why was my user name blocked? Just because one person has some hero complex and wants to exercise fascist control over other people is *not* grounds for blocking and is *contrary* to the rules of Wikipedia.

Decline reason:

Incivil request that fails to assume good faith; declined without review of issues. — Daniel Case (talk) 15:11, 8 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Procedural decline; no response to the questions below for several days. Kuru (talk) 02:15, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

If I understand why the block was placed, it was due to the use of an unacceptable user name acronym, and as I am requesting a change in user name, the "that the block is no longer necessary because you understand what you are blocked for, you will not do it again, and you will make productive contributions instead" policy would seem to apply. I'm suggesting that user name sgmtbs be changed to SamWise42 which should fall within user name policy. Thanks! Sgmtbs (talk) 22:11, 10 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. (✉→BWilkins←✎) 09:11, 11 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
