Comics terminology v. Comic book terminology

edit

They are different and the difference is that some terms are used throughout the field of comics and others are only used within the field of comic book publishing. An example is Donaldism, a term that has nothing to do with comic books whatsoever. The comic book terminology category is a logical sub-cat of both this and comic books. I would advise against merging them. Steve block Talk 22:04, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

CRPG pic

Yes, but what kind of picture should I get? One with dialogue? No dialogue? Combat? Etc.. -- Solberg 04:15, 20 July 2006 (UTC)SolbergReply

Alright, I'll see what I can find. Right now, I'm thinking of using this pic:

(Player has chosen to start out as an Ogre and Virgil has reacted rather indignantly to the possibility that this may be the chosen one (Ogre is standing next to the wrecked air ship-- steampunk imagery; sprase dialogue displays effects of character creation)

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Screen0015.jpg

Is this alright? I have plenty of others. Just give me a detailed description.

It's perfectly fine, if you recall, I wanted to be anal about the quality of the leading screenshot anyhow. Looking at your examples, I think I know what you're looking for, I'll be back later with some new shots. -- Solberg 21:57, 20 July 2006 (UTC)SolbergReply

Here's another shot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Screen0026.jpg It's the lair of Bellogrim, the last known specimen of an extinct species (namely dragons) Tell me what you think. -- Solberg 23:58, 20 July 2006 (UTC)SolbergReply

Btw, I want to delete the previous screenshot (Screen0015.jpg), how do I do that? Thanks...

I enhanced the contrast and brightness of the screenshot with Gimp, so it'll probably look better after thumbnailing. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a look at the Arcanum article again.

Units in Nintendo Wars

edit

Done; I read CSD A5 and found an AfD pointing to it with a similar name, and got confused. However, the transwiki issue needs to be addressed. The article has been transwiki'd, and should be rewritten now as an encyclopedia article, or it will probably be deleted later. Mangojuicetalk 13:29, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for moving the page. I always advocated the existance of the article, but never really felt clean about making up a name for it. And at least now I won't have to try and claim credit for the name. -Litefantastic 22:49, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for linking the Demon of Laplace (computer game) article on List of HummingBirdSoft games; I had no idea the article existed and I wasn't sure of the translation when I slapped on the katakana. I had a hard enough time trying to decide if the HummingBirdSoft article should've actually been named in camelcase like that, or if it should've been "Hummingbird Soft" or "HummingBird Soft" or even "Humming Bird Soft." :P As obscure as some of these companies/games are (although HummingBirdSoft did create the Record of Lodoss War series), I believe they deserve a place in Wikipedia; I'm sure there are still plenty of people out there who would like to know about these games and companies. :) --Tristam 19:01, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Depending on the game case or intro screen, the company either spells its name HummingBirdSoft, HummingBird Soft, or Humming Bird Soft (it's almost always the camelcase spelling though), but across the web I've seen Hummingbird Soft. I did a google search for the katakana of Demon of Laplace and found that it was still yet released across other platforms, such as the Sharp X68000 and Fujitsu FM-7. These may be obscure to Americans, but in Japan they were pretty popular computers. When I look at the Super Mario Bros. Special article, I wonder at the editors' constant emphasis on the word "obscure" when describing the NEC PC-8801. Sure, it's obscure to Americans, but back in the day it was one of the most popular PCs in Japan.

Timothy Cain

edit

I already had this discussion with another user-- there is (at least) another famous Tim Cain out there, see http://www.timcain.com/ . I'll change the redirect of Tim Cain to a more general page like CRPG. And I've talked to the webmaster of that site before, I'm afraid the guy in the picture is Tim Cain. Mad geniuses! -- Solberg 06:39, 13 August 2006 (UTC)SolbergReply

P.S. Thanks for changing the stub into a specialist stub, I didn't know there were specific stubs for CVG. Didn't know about the developer category either. That reminds me, what do you think of the "Prominent Designers" list I made in the computer rpg section a while back? Anybody you think I should add/remove? -- Solberg 06:43, 13 August 2006 (UTC)SolbergReply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Ng2box.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ng2box.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:36, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Timetraveler-knight.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Timetraveler-knight.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 21:44, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Fallout2-reactor.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Fallout2-reactor.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:23, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Console role-playing game. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Console role-playing game. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:14, 5 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Record Collection

edit

The article Record Collection has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There are some links but NO sources. This article is unsubstantiated and the topic appears not to be notable. "Record Collection" may or may not be owned by Warner Brothers, but in and of itself that does nothing for notability. No one has done anything substantial to improve the article in a long time. (There was a minor IP edit earlier this month, but nothing to address the issues). The article was tagged for improvement nearly a year ago. I have looked independently for sources to establish notability and could find nothing reliable. I suggest it be deleted. David_FLXD (Talk) 19:06, 22 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process.
