2005-06 in Portuguese rink hockey edit

Someone tagged the article as non-notable. It is obviously notable, since rink hockey is a major sport in Portugal. I've contacted the user and removed the tag. Keep your good work. By the way, visit Portal:Portugal and give your help. Include rink hockey related articles in the "to do" list, if you want. Cheers! Afonso Silva 19:14, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Boas vindas edit

Bom trabalho edit

Superliga Results edit

Just to say that the results table you replaced on the Superliga page looks perfect using every browser except Firefox. Its only on firefox that the names along the top are shown horizontally instead of Vertically. Table itself is perfect and prob looks better than the one you are using at present. Just pointing out that this is what the table looks like when I'm using Internet Explorer. [1] Niall123 23:20, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

G14 edit

The problem with the G14 template is only temporary as I change all the club pages. Please give me another 5 minutes. I'm changing the template to be joinable to other templates used by Serie A and the Premier League. Niall123 23:37, 14 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

No problem. Partly my fault. Should have done the club pages first for the extra coding. Check out the bottom of the AC Milan page to see what I'm doing. You can also use the template seperately by using the 2 tags "fb start" and "fb end" around it. Its the way all the templates for Premier League and Serie A are going. Looks better IMO. Michael Schumacher edit

My advice is to place a hold-on tag on the article, and I will ask an administrator to take a look. ---Charles 18:10, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I deleted the article Responses to Michael Schumacher's retirement. This just seems like a long list of quotes, conflicting with Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. I think you could edit the main article just to say "Many important people, such as ___ and ___, commmented on his retirement" without actually including all the quotes verbatim. Thanks, NawlinWiki 18:14, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Could the quotes, which are retrivable from older versions of the Michael Schumacher article, could go to Wikiquote, which seems to be designed for this kind of thing? 4u1e

Schumacher edit

Good work on Schumacher - how do you feel about others editing it? I've got some ideas, but the easiest thing is probably to implement them. :) --4u1e 06:42, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'll have a go then, although it probably won't be this evening now. I'll warn you now, some of my ideas will make it rather shorter- I'll try and do it in such a way that it is easily reversible! Cheers. --4u1e 16:37, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'm just having a go at it now. Cheers. --4u1e 07:33, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
OK - I'm done. Mostly editing for length, rather than neutrality - where I think you've done a very good job. I'm wondering now whether, in the context of Schumacher's overall career, the 1998 British GP is noteworthy enough to mention here? What do you think? Feel free to revert my changes by the way - happy to discuss and start again if you wish. Good work on the main article too - looking much better now. --4u1e 08:12, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough - I was working from the view that if we need to get it shorter, it usually easier to over do it and then add stuff back in - gives us a better perspective on what's important. Let's see how it does down in the article! Cheers. --4u1e 09:45, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Team Orders edit

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Michael_Schumacher&curid=20396&diff=84209285&oldid=84208240

I think there must be a better source to cite - not that I've found one yet. The thing is, team orders weren't unequivocally banned - the rule says something like "team orders which affect the outcome of a race". -- Ian Dalziel 12:15, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why isn't that reference good? It is about the fact that team orders were banned after the two incidents with the ferraris in 2002, in Austria and USA. If you read the reference well, you'll see "The rule forbidding teams from determining the finish of their drivers resulted from Ferrari instructing Barrichello to let five-time champion chumacher pass him to win the Austrian Grand Prix earlier this year, and Barrichello winning the U.S. Grand Prix when Schumacher slowed down in a bid for a dead-heat finish.". This proves what is stated in the article. I think if something has to change, is the wikipedia article to match the reference, not the opposite. Cheers--Serte 13:32, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Football table templates edit

There are a number of issues with that template:

  1. There are no obvious benefits, as the table syntax is pretty simple already.
  2. The colours should be parametrised, not part of the name of each template.
  3. Standardised columns prevents extra information being added to the table later, such as a 'notes' column.

Excellent work, but should we not include António de Spínola and/or the National Salvation Junta before Palma Carlos? I did after all do something similar with Template:PortuguesePresidents. Biruitorul 06:03, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, if that's what the list says, then let's stick with it. I think I may put the Junta in parentheses right before Palma Carlos, just to indicate that someone was in fact heading the Portuguese government during those three exciting weeks in spring 1974. Michael Schumacher Statistsic edit

Hi, I realized you have improved a contribution that 84.50.171.2 has made in regards to Michael Schumacher's perfermance in 1991 - 1993. 84.50.171.2 has also made a change to the number of GP for Michael Schumacher, and it seems like you had no trouble with it. However, according to the official formula 1 website, his GP is 250, not 249. Did you just happen to overlooked or is it really 249, in which I should not keep reverting it back to 250? --Cyktsui 00:45, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not a problem. I am just worried that I have reverted something that I shouldn't have reverted. You have been excellent of making the article getting into GA standard! -Cyktsui 21:52, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Colorado Avalanche edit

WPTP has made it quite clear, that the section is to be named Honored Members (only). It's makes it clear as well, the Honored Members section is to be made up of the Hall of Famers and Retired Numbers (only). PLEASE stop going against the WikiProject's desires, I'm certain (someday) both Sakic and Forsberg will enter the HHOF & have their numbers retired, be patient. Besides Sakic & Forsberg's accomplishment are already mention at the Franchise records section and Sakic's captaincy tenure is shown at the Team Captains section. I'm sorry for my attitude, forgive me for being an asshole. You're correct about my barking at you. Again, I'm sorry for offending you. PS- I'm keeping your posting (at my page) intact, as a reminder to myself to 'read the history' of a page more carefully and curb my 'passions'. Notability of Airo edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Airo, by Hbdragon88, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Airo seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Airo, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Airo itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 00:45, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Colorado Avalanche draft picks edit

Hey, just wanted to let you know I'm amazed at the effort you put into the list, I just don't think it's quite up to snuff, because you can't use the same style as the player list. Take a look at my sandbox page.. I started working on this well before you nominated the Colorado page (coincidentally, I'm working on a list of NJ Devils players that I'm now basing off your featured Colorado list that I had also started before your nomination). I think for draft picks, it's best to separate them by draft year, with links to each individual draft year. Also, it's key to include notes about if any picks were traded. I'm basing this somewhat off the featured lists of football first-round draft picks (here and here). If you want to change it to work with my suggestions, let me know and I'll help you out. At any rate, nice job on all the hard work you've been doing lately, and please don't take my comments as anything other than positive critiques. Anthony Hit me up... 14:21, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I think it's a good idea to get an idea of where the WikiProject wants to go with it, because whatever gets featured will set the standard for the rest of the teams (see New Jersey Devils and all the precedents it has set). We want to do this right the first time so we don't have to go back later and say "well, now we want it this way, so let's fix it". I'll post this for discussion at the project talk page & see what people have to say about it. Anthony Hit me up... 15:18, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • I know, it's just that when I first started on Wikipedia, I got into some heated arguments with people because one or both of us took critiques personally, so I'm a little gun-shy about stuff like that. I know you know I'm not ragging on you, it's just a reflexive defense thing, lol. Anthony Hit me up... 11:53, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • BTW, started working in my sandbox on converting the Avs draft picks over; User:FutureNJGov/sandbox/Avsdraft is where it's at. You can just copy & paste if/when you start working on it. I've got 1995 done so far; I'll do the others as I can. Anthony Hit me up... 23:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Metclub logo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Metclub logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:05, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter

Dear Serte! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. If you are an inactive user, you probably won't recognize the new and improved state of the WikiProject!

From the project, Maxim.

Article Improvement

By Maxim

Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status.

Diacritics

By Maxim

In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt.

Task forces

By Maxim
There have been two new task forces started within the WikiProject to coordinate major topics.

Sweden Ice Hockey task force

This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES.

New Jersey Devils task force

This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock.

Requested Images

By Maxim
After discussion on the WikiProject talk page, Serte created a page for Requested Images. The page encourages users to license images for use on articles. The page also has section to request images for players, arenas, game situations, miscellaneous, and team and league logos. The page has been quite popular; since it was created on July 21, there have been six completed requests. There are four currently outstanding requests:

Article assessement completed

By Maxim
On July 12, Kaiser matias announced that he had completed assessing all the articles with a {{ice hockey}} tag, sorting them into Category:Unassessed Ice Hockey articles. Kaiser matias has ranked about 9000 articles in that category, and most were stubs, and "have no information at all", according to him. Everybody is encouraged to expand the stubs into real articles. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Communic.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Communic.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:10, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've replied to your comment - I think you mistook my comment. I said nominated, not win. Motorhead have been nominated twice for a Grammy due to a Metallica cover, and won the second time with "Whiplash". Image source problem with Image:Ajviana.JPG edit

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Ajviana.JPG. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:11, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. James Milner Off the pitch section edit

Over the past few weeks I’ve been researching desperately to try and expand this section. But for the most part I can only find very trivial facts. Another user has told me that off the pitch sections are not mandatory and in this case it would be best to remove it completely. I’m not so sure, however minor his off the pitch activities might be it would be useful to give an idea of what he’s like as a person.

Please give me your views. Should it be expanded, removed completely or charged in some other way. Please give your views in the Milner Off the pitch section on my talk page. Buc 16:41, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Featured Topic Drive edit

Hi, I was wondering what your status was with the project. We are very close - there are only 3 unclaimed articles left - and if we all work at it, we could be ready for an FTC by November. Thanks for the time, Scorpion0422 22:47, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

It looks good and I think it's ready to go. One small note, you should expand the lead a little (just copy what I did with the Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy and list the trophys namesake and the most recent winner and his points totals). So, you can go ahead and nominate it as soon as you're ready. I also have the Jennings ready for an FLC but I'll wait a day because I think we should start staggering the nominations a little - the FLC regulars got mad at us when we had 7 trophy FLCs all at the same time, and they still get a little angry every time we nominate a page, but there's nothing that can be done about that. -- Scorpion0422 22:53, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Much better, good job. -- Scorpion0422 23:09, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
One thing I just thought of - it might not hurt to list all of the players who won the Hart and Art Ross in the same season as well as those that completed the Hart/Art Ross/Pearson sweep. Just follow the model I used for listing double winners on this page. As well, you should note that Bobby Orr is the only defenceman to ever win the Art Ross. -- Scorpion0422 23:27, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter

Dear Serte! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been more new thing going on at WP:HOCKEY, and I think this will help you to stay informed. Since the last newsletter sent out in August, there's been great changes. Read on to find out! Maxim(talk)

This just in:
Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy has just been promoted to featured list status, while the bot was delivering the newsletter. Maxim(talk) 02:02, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

And I've just promoted Art Ross Trophy. And Clarence S. Campbell Bowl is at FLC. This should be the last update. Maxim(talk) 00:40, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
New recognized content

By Maxim

Especially due to the featured topic drive, there have been many new featured lists promoted concerning NHL awards. Here's the full list of all the 13 FL's promoted since the last newsletter.[1][2]

  1.   Hart Memorial Trophy
  2.   James Norris Memorial Trophy
  3.   Vezina Trophy
  4.   Conn Smythe Trophy
  5.   Frank J. Selke Trophy
  6.   Lady Byng Memorial Trophy
  7.   Lester B. Pearson Award
  8.   Calder Memorial Trophy
  9.   Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy
  10.   King Clancy Memorial Trophy
  11.   Jack Adams Award
  12.   Presidents' Trophy
  13.   List of Calgary Flames players

There have been no new good articles or featured articles. Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy has been given A-Class status due to multiple issues raised at FLC.

  1. ^ The last one, List of Calgary Flames players, is the only one not associated with the featured topic drive.
  2. ^ At the time of publishing, there were 5 lists at WP:FLC and 2 lists in the "Holding cell", as there's been an accepted guideline to not put more that 5 trophy lists at the same time to, "compensate for the sanity of the reviewers".

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:

  1.   Hart Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  2.   James Norris Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  3.   Vezina Trophy (Scorpion)
  4.   Conn Smythe Trophy (Serte)
  5.   Frank J. Selke Trophy (FutureNJGov)
  6.   Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  7.   Lester B. Pearson Award (Scorpion)
  8.   Calder Memorial Trophy (Croat Canuck)
  9.   Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  10.   King Clancy Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  11.   Jack Adams Award (Maxim)
  12.   Presidents' Trophy (Scorpion)
  13.   Stanley Cup (Earlier collaboration, very many involved)
  14.   Traditions and anecdotes associated with the Stanley Cup (Maxim)

Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion.

FL Main page proposal edit

You either nominated a WP:FLC or closed such a nomination recently. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1 2007, voting starting December 1 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual content will resemble the current content at the featured content page. Such output would probably start at the bottom of the main page. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. Right now debate seems to be among support for the current selective democratic/consensus based proposal, a selective dictatorial approach like that used at WP:TFA or a non-selective first in line/calendar approach like that used at WP:POTD. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 19:25, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

LOTD proposal edit

You have nominated a recently successful WP:FL. There have been two recent proposals to begin a List of the Day feature on the main page, which have both received majorities but have not been approved as overwhelming support sufficient to change the main page. WP:LOTDP is a new proposal to try to get the ball rolling based on the original proposal. You can voice your thoughts on its talk page. Basically, what the proposal entails is attempting to run an official trial, and then vote after the trial run on whether to change the main page. Support to run a trial requires much less consensus than support to change the main page. Should we succeed at eventually getting such a feature on the main page it would tentatively look like this. Whether or not you support an experimental trial or not you should come discuss the matter at WP:LOTDP's talk page. I apologize if you have either already voiced your opinion on this matter or already tired of hearing about it.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 21:35, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Featured List of the Day Experiment edit

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 17:28, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Better source request for Image:Gil_Vicente_FC_Novo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Gil_Vicente_FC_Novo.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. OsamaK (talk) 19:51, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I noticed your request a while back on LOCE for a ce of Enter Sandman. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Betandwin topo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Betandwin topo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:37, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY.

Notes
  • More editors are needed to help out with the newsletter. The newsletter creator doesn't have an infinite nor perfect supply of ideas, and thus he might omit some interesting news.
  • Portal:Ice hockey is being considered for featured status.
  • Should Chris Pronger have been suspended for more than eight games for stomping on Ryan Kesler? Vote here!

Paul Stastny additions edit

Hi, I saw that you were working on this article and had fixed all of the GA reviewers concerns except the lead. I expanded the lead so that it fit the reviewer's length requirements. I thought that it would be worthwhile to mention that he comes from a large hockey family, so I added that. I also added a sentence about his international play, as the lead is supposed to summarize every section of the article. I hope these changes are okay. Best wishes on getting it passed, GaryColemanFan (talk) 15:20, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Eusebio.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Eusebio.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sdrtirs (talk) 00:30, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Betandwin topo.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Betandwin topo.gif.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:35, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Platiniec.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading Image:Platiniec.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 02:43, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Jeff Paul edit

A tag has been placed on Jeff Paul, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Horselover Frost (talk) 07:59, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:2695.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:2695.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Daemonarch.png) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Daemonarch.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 16:10, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Pedra Furada edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Pedra Furada, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Makes no assertion of notability.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.   Hello Serte! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Schumihill1994.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Schumihill1994.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 09:03, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of 2econd Skin edit

The article 2econd Skin has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references, no claim of notability, fails WP:NSONG and WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
