BLP violation

Hi, Serendipodous, I think you have a BLP violation. There is no mention in Bruce Jenner that he came out as transgender, much less any sourced reference to this claim. Perhaps its a violation, but please keep in mind that "The Signpost" treats itself as a publication, so t would have never occurred to me (perhaps very wrongly) that there was a problem. I amended the article more because it is a violation of truth to claim the Bruce Jenner article was popular due to a car crash. This is an interesting issue, because it is far from the first time that a BLP article is popular due to very controversial event. Do WP:BLP and WP:NPOV apply to the Top 25 report? There's discussion on Talk:Bruce Jenner about various claims, while the article is currently protected from editing. While some viewing spikes are attributable to Google Doodles, reddit threads, film/album releases, or annual events, others are based on what's reported in the "news media", whether reliable sources or not. I was organizing the Category:Top 25 Report and I noticed there was not a report for these dates: Wikipedia:Top 25 Report/April 8 to 14, 2013 and Wikipedia:Top 25 Report/September 29 to October 5, 2013. Yes, Milowent, I had the pages organized chronologically but I took a break in June 2014 and the Top 25s since then had been in alphabetical order. I was telling Serendipodous that at some point, the pages should be organized by year but that involves a lot of retagging and I'm taking a break for categories right now. Some day! Liz ^{Read! some challenges this week

• Just looked at the new 5000, and there are a few challenges! Just parking my thoughts here to the extent they might help: Academy Awards definitely has non-human views polluting it heavily (and with .59% mobile would be excluded); query whether 87th Academy Awards (3.02% mobile) should go as well, probably so. Kayne West is legitimately caused by people checking "loser.com" due to press coverage [1], Momofuku Ando was a google doodle, Finance looks bot-influenced as does Bitcoin, as well as Tablet computer despite the 22.90% mobile count (similar to Real estate and Computer).--Milowent • ^hasspoken 17:13, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

traffic note

• Its pains me that I even know this, but Dwayne Johnson (raw #21) (aka The Rock) appeared at WrestleMania 31 (raw #6) after flying from some event related to Furious 7 (raw #4). Definitely an American lowbrow culture takeover more than usual this week. Hello from the team at Featured article review!

We are preparing to take a closer look at Featured articles promoted in 2004–2010 that may need a review. We started with a script-compiled list of older FAs that have not had a recent formal review. The next step is to prune the list by removing articles that are still actively maintained, up-to-date, and believed to meet current standards. Question about Traffic Report and Top 25

Hey, Serendipodous,
I'm organizing the Signpost archives and I have a question for you. According to Category:Top 25 Report, you started the Top 25 back in January 2013. But the traffic reports started much later (see Category:Wikipedia Signpost Traffic report archives 2013), there was one in April 2013 and then they began appearing regularly in June 2013. Because none of the Signpost articles were categorized, I can only search for them by guessing the dates. For example, there is a Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2013-04-29/Traffic report so I searched for Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2013-04-22/Traffic report but there is no report for that date.
Does this match your recollection? I had assumed that you started putting together the Traffic reports and then expanded them into the Top 25 but it appears that it was the other way around. I just want to be sure I'm not missing some pages. Liz ^{Read! Talk!} 10:04, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Halley's Comet

Dear Serendipodus, can you please explain your fascination with not letting me edit the Halley's Comet page? My name is Halley Lewis III, and I am named after my grandfather who was born in May 1910 while Halley's Comet was overhead. Accordingly, the proper pronunciation of my name and the Comet is important to me. You cited TWO links in your efforts to show that the Comet can also be pronounced "Hailey"... so I respectfully ask you to review your own sources.

The first was Merriam-Webster, so please go to their link and click on THEIR pronunciation button. Your own link pronounces it to rhyme with "valley." Moreover, they specifically list these words (and ONLY these words) as rhyming with Halley: alley, bally, challis, dally, galley, gally, mallee, pally, rally, sally, Schally, tally, valley.

Your second link is to an old anonymous Q&A from the New York Times. In that link, they specifically say that they telephoned 16 Halleys living in London to ask them what they called themselves. Three declined to say but every one of the remainder admitted to ha-li (rhyming with "alley"). With such an overwhelming verdict about the present pronunciation of the name there was no point in continuing the survey.

So to summarize, your two links strongly support MY position that they proper pronunciation of the Comet is to rhyme with "valley"... yet for some reason you refuse to let me or anyone else make this notation on the Wikipedia page.

Thank you for your response. Can we perhaps compromise? I know that you want the page to be as accurate as possible, and the proof is clear that the "valley" pronunciation is far more prevalent. sorry, I was not finished. I was saying that the pronunciation 400 years ago is not relevant to today's pronunciation amongst the scientific community. If a broadcaster needed to know the correct pronunciation for his newscast, every single video pronounces the word to rhyme with Valley.I am just hopeful that you will see it to make some sort of indication on the page that the valley pronunciation is the commonly accepted one. I would also point out that while your citation points out several different SPELLINGS for Halley's name... there has NEVER been any dispute about the proper spelling of the COMET's name. Accordingly, the different pronunciations you discuss would be more appropriate in an article about Edmund Halley and not the comet. Once the "Halley" spelling was chosen for the comet, then along with it came the "valley" pronunciation. Pluto Discovery

Your recent removal of reference to the monumental 1951 Eckert-Brouwer-Clemence tables is justified by non-citation so here is the text with link:

Clemence (Astronomical Papers of the American Ephemeris volume 12), and which remained the official U. S. N. O. mass of Pluto until 1968."

E.-B.-C. was the first reliable numerical integration ephemeris for the whole solar system, starting a tradition carried on by E. M. Standish and his Jet Propulsion Laboratory colleagues at the California Institute of Technology with such success that special perturbations supplanted general perturbations by the 1980s as the basis for national ephemerides and for navigating spacecraft accurately to their targets.

Why suppress the unchallenged fact that Rawlins published the best estimate of Pluto's mass before 1976-8? Unlike the 1934 commentators, he ran a perturbational analysis (MNRAS 1973, sensitive enough to assess Neptune's mass), included occultation-failure, realized that gravity measures were inadequate, and provided a hard number. Serendipodous, would you consider modifying your description for Game of Thrones? I anticipate a strong negative response to this if it appears in the Signpost as is. For one thing, you don't have to be a feminist to be upset about a rape scene on TV. Secondly, "some feminists" is vague and if you want to stick with "feminists" instead of just "some people were upset", you should name the feminists who were criticizing the TV program. As it reads right now, it seems like there were some silly feminists upset about a TV show. Either identify the individuals who were critical online or in print or just say that people were upset as I'm sure there were men as well as nonfeminist women who did not like seeing a character on a TV series raped.
