Question from Frang0607 (23:57, 29 August 2023)

Hello! I am very curious if there is a writing style that is acceptable for Wikipedia? Also, I would like to know the things I need to take into account in making a reference? --Frang0607 (talk) 23:57, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello @Frang0607: and welcome to Wikipedia! The general style guidelines are in our Manual of Style; see WP:MOS for this. In terms of things you need to take into account when making a reference, there will usually be fields you can fill in as part of the referencing tool. There is also an automatic reference maker in the visual editor, which you can enable in your "Preferences" section. If there's anything else I can help with or further clarify, let me know. ser! Question from BaileyDenyer (14:55, 31 August 2023)

Hello,

I want to add information about Vaginismus Awareness Day to the Wikipedia page about Vaginismus. (Alternatively, create a page about Vaginismus Awareness Day). Is this doable? Thanks! --BaileyDenyer (talk) 14:55, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello @BaileyDenyer:, thanks for the question. Provided you have sources regarding vaginismus awareness day, adding information to the vaginismus page shouldn't be a problem at all. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 10:17, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Question from Lepke99 on User:Lepke99/sandbox (11:20, 4 September 2023)

Hello,

Working on a first article. Not sure how to add a picture or how to list outside sources at the bottom of the article. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you --Lepke99 (talk) 11:20, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Lepke99:, to add a picture the basic code is [[File:Example_file.jpg|thumb| Caption.]], replacing the file name with whatever your file name is. Check out the guide here. As for the sources, if you add citations to the end of your sentences using the "Cite" tool, they will automatically appear as a list at the bottom. You can also add a "Further reading" section with relevant sources that weren't used. Thank you for your question, and I hope this helps. ser! Hello Ser!,
Your advice helped a lot! There is a lot more for me to understand and learn. Your quick response and detailed explanation has given me some confidence to do so. Lepke99 (talk) 12:43, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

Question - Graham Linehan page

Hello - could you please let me know the reason for removing references to Mr Linehan's support for the UK Conservative Party? You removed one reference from the opening section for reasons I understand, but later references have also been removed. As you know, he is a highly controversial figure who states his position on many issues, daily. Isn't it a matter of public record and interest that he supports this Party? Thank you. Discojohn48 (talk) 11:15, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Discojohn48: - the reason it was removed was because the claim hinges on an article in the Daily Mail, which is a deprecated source on Wikipedia, meaning using Daily Mail articles to back up claims is generally prohibited. See WP:RSP for more details and the list of sources that are deprecated. Thanks. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 11:21, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
Thank you very much for clarifying. The second source - where he says that he will vote and campaign for them - is one of his own tweets. I assume that is ok to use? Thanks. Discojohn48 (talk) 11:45, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
Twitter posts fall under WP:ABOUTSELF, so it should be okay to use provided it meets those points. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 11:49, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
