Bedia edit

Hi Segnor Bugatti. You appear to be correct. Sorry for having reverted you prematurely.--KoberTalk 19:22, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Btw, is really Agubedia a direct Abkhaz translation of the earlier Megrelian toponym Gulibedia? As far as I know agu means "heart" in Abkhaz, right?--KoberTalk 19:27, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Gulibedia is mentioned in late medieval Georgian documents.--KoberTalk 04:27, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sergei Bagapsh edit

Hi, I noticed that you speak Abkhaz. Would you be able to verify the recent change at the Sergei Bagapsh article of "Sergei Uasyl-ipa Bagapsh" to "Sergei Wasyl-ipa Bagapsh"? Thanks. Khoikhoi 20:56, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ehm, I don't know whether it is impolite to comment here, if it is, I apologise: but I think this is a matter of transcription. The Abkhaz alphabet doesn't have a character for the velar approximant [w], it uses у, the character otherwise used for the high back vowel [u]. Analogously, it uses и for both [i] and [j]. So phonetically, it is true that there is a w here rather than a u. But in principle a transcription is meant to represent what is written, not what is spoken. So I support transcribing у with u everywhere, but I didn't revert that change because we haven't yet got a policy on transcribing Abkhaz.
But I'm curious as to what Segnor Bugatti has got to say on this.sephia karta 21:22, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hello. Sephia karta, you are right. But I think that it would be better to use "phonetical" transcription than. You could easely ask me about such questions Segnor Bugatti (talk) 21:49, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi again. Just to avoid any confusion, which one is the phonetic transcription? Uasyl-ipa or Wasyl-ipa? Khoikhoi 05:59, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wasyl-ipa Segnor Bugatti (talk) 17:55, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Spanish wikipedia edit

I've seen that you erased the georgian and russian name from Ochamchirski Raion (Distrito de Ochamchira). We had there a lot of arguments about the names, translations and so on, so a "enciclopedic" non-write rule about Abkhazia was reflect names in these three languages, Abkhasian is obvious, georgian because minorities (mingrelians, svans, and so on), and russian because is the main source of historic information from the region. If don't bother, I'll undo your edition erasing it.Shliahov--Shliahov (talk) 21:37, 30 August 2008 (UTC)P.D. write in spanish user page because I don't read english one so often)Reply

Abkhazian edit

Hello, Do you write Abkhazian? I'd like to put some information about occitania and the occitan language in abkhazian, but unfortunately I have no way to find an abkhazian speaker on the ab wiki. Or do you know somebody? Thanks in advance. Regards, --J F Blanc (talk) 11:42, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've left a comment in the talk page of Abkhaz language, asking few questions. You may be knowledgeable about the topic. I would be more than happy if you could have a look and comment. Thank you very much --Universal Life (talk) 16:22, 4 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
