New Century Learning is term coined by Sean Thomas Moroney, an Educator and technologist from the United States. It is meant to describe new pedagogical practices and methodologies applied ot various learning environments, specifically involving or employing the use of information technologies to support and augment learning and teaching. The term "New Century" Itself evolved out of the need to modernize what has been often referred to in K-12 educational circles and settings as "21st Century Learning" but became outmoded as the century progressed.
Processes and practices associated with both of these terms are school reform directed shifts in how to approach students whom it is understood are immersed in technology growing up in the information age where the ability to acquire and share knowledge has been enhanced and accelerated by technologies -generally digital- used for gathering, classifying and disseminating information. The implications for schools and related organizations are tremendous.
