Gerry Ryan
edit(the following question was moved here from User Talk:Mrand): What exactly is the problme withe the Gerry Ryan entry? Why do you keep reverting it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seankelly2002 (talk • contribs) 16:12, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- There are several problems, but the biggest one is that no (reliable) sources are cited which claim that this is really a controversy. Wikipedia is not allowed to draw conclusions - so we can't just label something a controversy. A reliable source independent from the item being discussed, and independent from Wikipedia, must call it a controversy for us to "report" it that way. Think of Wikipedia like an news section of a newspaper - it can only "report" what other (again, reliable) sources say. No-one is disputing that Gerry Ryan says the things that the edits claim - the dispute is that him saying it is no different than him running his mouth about any other topic.
- By the way, I am not the only one reverting this change. By my count, at least six different people have reverted your edits over the past month (a number of them experienced editors) - so there is a pretty good consensus that this information doesn't belong in this Wikipedia article in its current form. I will watch this page, so you can reply here.—Mrand Talk • C 19:27, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Joe Brolly
editWP policy dictates that the correct name for County Londonderry be used throughout. Also, Joe Brolly was born in Northern Ireland. If you persist with your reverts you will be blocked.Traditional unionist (talk) 12:18, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- WP:IMOS. This recognises that there is no such place, and never has been such a place, as Co Derry. It rather unfortunately allows the City of Londonderry to be called something it isn't on wikipedia, but there we are. Your edits breech policy, and persistence will lead to a block.Traditional unionist (talk) 12:28, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- By consensus amongst users. Which wont happen, it's been tried several times to have IMOS brought into line with other policies such as WP:VERIFY and WP:RS by having the city called what the charter calls it. Alas some people prefer Wikipedia to live in a dream world rather than the real world on that issue. Traditional unionist (talk) 12:37, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- By way of some education, Co Coleraine was expanded and renamed Co Londonderry. There has never been a Co Derry. Thus the comments is neither offensive nor incorrect.Traditional unionist (talk) 13:07, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Compromise proposal: Can't you (Sean) just find out what town he's from, and change it to simply; "Place of birth: Dungiven, Northern Ireland"? Which (if Dungiven is factually correct) would be accurate and avoids these POV issues. Guliolopez (talk) 13:52, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- There is no POV issue. If he was born in County Londonderry, he was born in Co Londonderry. Compromise is not required, policy is explicit about this.Traditional unionist (talk) 13:53, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Don't get me wrong, by POV, all I was referring to was Sean's POV contention that it should be County Derry. My main point was that if a more specific place of birth could be added, it would make Sean's edit-war a mute point. That's all. Guliolopez (talk) 14:10, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
You're wasting your time. This Tradional Unionist guy isn't interested in facts. I hope you're happy in your ignorance, whoever you are.

Bad day
editHi Sean, are you having a bad day? Please try not taking it out on Wikipedia. Maybe you should get on your bike again and chill a bit.Bjmullan (talk) 11:40, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Vandalism
editPlease stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to Thierry Henry, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Canterbury Tail talk 12:48, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
But I didn't vandalise it. What does "vandalize" actually mean anyway?
County Londonderry
editPlease refrain from changing references to County Londonderry to incorrectly read County Derry. The official name of the county is County Londonerry and there has never been a County Derry in the history of Ireland. Yes some people refer to it as County Derry, but this is not the name of the county. Continued alteration of such references is considered to be vandalism. Canterbury Tail talk 12:48, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Wow! But Londonderry is an invalid name? The place is called Derry. Why can't you people understand that? Maybe you should buy a map.
Vandalism-only account

Request reason:
I'm not sure what to do now but some arrogant, presumably French, dipshit has blocked me from editing because I had the audacity to say that Thierry Henry was a cheat! Wow! Doesn't everybody know that? What a spa.
Decline reason:
This was sufficient to get your talk page privileges revoked. --jpgordon::==( o ) 15:39, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

- I'm not French. Rodhullandemu 15:27, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
I cannot understand why I'm accused of "vandalism" for stating that Henry is a cheat. He is. I saw it on the telly. The world saw the idiot handling the ball. He cheated. That's it.
{{unblock|Henry is a cheat. Saying so isn't vandalism. How the hell can it be??}}
