Adding references to Draft:Khushbu Thakkar

edit

Hello, Sdhakray. This is GrammarFascist who answered your question at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions about Draft:Khushbu Thakkar. I also added two sources to the draft, as inline citations, to give you an example to follow.

I see you have now added some more sources. (Note that I did not check to see whether any of them met Wikipedia's reliability standard, something else that will be necessary for the article to be promoted out of draft status.) Unfortunately, you simply listed each new source under the References section; this is not correct. So that other readers can see which source proves which fact asserted in the article, inline citations are expected. Wikipedia's inline citation system displays a small number — like so[1] — that links to the source displayed in the References section, but in order for the system to work, the information about the source (title, date, url, etc) has to be placed in the body of the article where it's being cited. I know that's somewhat confusing, but that's also why I gave you examples to follow with the references I added.

I'm afraid this article will not pass AfC review without inline citations. If you need help converting your references to inline citations, reply here beginning with "[[User:GrammarFascist|GrammarFascist]]" and I will give you more guidance. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 03:24, 24 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

hi "GrammarFascist" thanks for your help. I am actually trying to work as per guidlines. I am not familiar with so much of codings and scripting. This is my first article so it is more confusing to understand the things. Can you please help me out with scripts or codes what needs to be added. I will use those by editing them and prepare proper draft so it can move out as Article. Additionally it would be great if u can review and help me out on scriptings. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sdhakray (talkcontribs) 12:03, 24 September 2015‎ (UTC)Reply

Hello again, Sdhakray. I see you have been very busy working on the article since yesterday! I will review your changes, and make any corrections needed to the citations you added. Thanks for understanding the importance of adding references. One thing I will be doing is adding a bit of code that will display "[citation needed]" on every statement that still needs a reference citation. This will give you some guidance on what sources to look for next.
Out of curiosity, are you just a really big Khushbu Thakkar fan, or are you connected with her in some way? —GrammarFascist contribstalk 00:54, 25 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
I have corrected the formatting of most of the references you added, and added some new sources myself as well. I also added the "[citation needed]" notations I mentioned above, to let you know what still needs a source. Don't forget that Hindi, Gujarati or other non-English-language sources can be used. You can also use articles in newspapers or magazines as sources.
The trick I use to ensure my references are formatted correctly is very handy and I think you may find it useful. Look at the blue bar at the top of the edit window while editing the draft (or any other article). Click where it says Cite on the right-hand side. Then, in the second blue bar that appears, look on the left and click where it says Templates. This will give you four options: Cite web, Cite news, Cite book and Cite journal. You can use either Cite web or Cite news for websites; Cite book is of course for books and Cite journal for magazines. When you click on one, a form pops up with fields for you to fill in. It's pretty self-explanatory: Last name and First name are for the author of the reference, not for the subject of the article. Really, it's like filling out a reference citation manually, just easier.
Also, did you know that, instead of saving your changes to the article right away, you can click Show preview to see how the page would look with your changes? This might mean you need to make fewer edits to get the same result. I preview every edit I make, even the simplest ones. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 04:18, 25 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi "GrammarFascist" thanks for all your help.I am big fan of her works. I have met her frequently. We discussed so many things. i too handle her personal Facebook Page and for some information i did not find resources. Like chief guest and Young Inspiration award from her community. And about her father, mother borther and sister details found on Colors Wikia page. I remembered these information which she told me when i met her last week. Hence i mentioned all those things here. I am also trying to put some web link for her work as Akshita in Emotional Atyachar but it is showing as blocked while trying to save. - SuryaDhakray (talk) 13:56, 25 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello again, Sdhakray. I'm a little jealous of you, Khushbu Thakkar is a very pretty woman (though I have not had a chance to see any of her acting yet). However, since you know her personally, and especially since you are in charge of her "personal" Facebook page, it sounds like you have what Wikipedia calls a conflict of interest, or COI. While this does not mean you can't work on the Draft:Khushbu Thakkar article, it does mean you are discouraged from doing so. It also means that you must disclose your connection to her on your user page, and you should also state that information on the talk page of the draft itself. I hope you can understand why Wikipedia has these policies.
Regarding the information about her parents and siblings, Wikia (like Wikipedia itself) is not a reliable source, so can't be used for proving a fact in a Wikipedia article. And Wikipedia can't use information she has told you personally, either; only information that has appeared in a reliable source such as a newspaper article or book. Information that can't go on the Wikipedia page about her can still go in other places, though, like her Facebook page.
The reason your edit is "showing as blocked while trying to save" is probably an edit conflict. This just means that you and another editor both tried to edit the article at around the same time, and their save went through first. Simply copy your change from the bottom text area to the top text area, and it should work. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 15:38, 25 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello @ "GrammarFascist" i take that as healthy compliment that you are little jealous of me. I met her as i wanted to write biography on her but unfortunately i wasn't able to complete it.So should i remove the details that she told me personally or the details which does not have resources like her parents and siblings details. BTW i only handle her Official personal facebook page but not the Facebook account she owns. Like i can post her pictures of sets and shoots or share some other information from her account to official page.SuryaDhakray (talk) 15:54, 25 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes, SuryaDhakray, it was meant as a compliment to both you and her. And yes, you should remove details such as her parents' and siblings' names (and her siblings' occupations) unless you find a reliable published source for that information.
I confess I am confused about the Facebook page about Khushbu Thakkar you maintain. How is it "her Official personal facebook page but not the Facebook account she owns"? Do you mean that the page you maintain is used for 'her' to interact with her fans, while the other account is the one she uses to keep in touch with family and close friends? Or is the page you maintain more of a fan page? Thank you in advance for helping me to understand. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 14:47, 26 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello again @ "GrammarFascist".. The account which i handle is more like fan page on which updates about her can be seen by her fans. I think my way of telling you might have confused u. I will remove the details for which i don't have and didn't find enough sources. And i think that should suffice the article to get approved. Thanks. :) SuryaDhakray (talk) 14:43, 28 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have removed the details which does not produce any refrences or sources except her birth date. thanks!!SuryaDhakray (talk) 14:46, 28 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
I have gone to review your changes. The formatting of some of your citations is not correct, but I will fix that for you. To avoid an edit conflict, please do not edit the page until the message that the article "is actively undergoing a major edit for a short while" is gone from the top of the page. I'm afraid I am going to have to remove the (very pretty) image from the article as it is not licensed for use on Wikipedia and would cause the article to be rejected again... but I will try to find an image that would be allowed. Thanks for working with me to improve your draft article. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 15:09, 28 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@ "GrammarFascist" thanks for your help and appreciate it. Thanks!!! SuryaDhakray (talk) 15:43, 28 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Final edits to Draft:Khushbu Thakkar before it is ready to become an article

edit

Hello again, Sdhakray. You're quite welcome.

I have made some adjustments to the draft, including formatting the references you added correctly, and replacing the ones that were not to reliable sources. I also removed the image from the infobox; I really do think the best option for a photo to use here is for you to take a photo of her yourself, which could be done with a cellphone. The next best option would be for her to take a "selfie" BUT she would either have to upload that herself OR send special paperwork in to the Wikimedia Foundation granting permission for other people to use it here; you couldn't just upload it for her even with her spoken permission.

Now the "lead" section of the article, everything above the "Early life and education" section, should be just a summary of the most important information found later in the article. So it's not necessary to list every single role she has had there — just the ones that were her most substantial roles (with lots of screen time), or the ones that are the most popular shows, or some of each. I have no way of knowing about these shows and her roles on them, though. Could you remove all but the most substantial roles and most popular shows from that section?

Also, I noticed that Mrs. Tendulkar and MTV Webbed are listed in the lead section, but not in the table; you should add them there IF there are reliable sources stating that Ms. Thakkar was in those shows, or remove them from the article if you cannot find a reliable source. Remember that blogs and forum postings are not reliable sources. A few series were listed twice in the lead section, so I removed the duplicates.

Other than those few things I think the draft is close to being ready for its next review. Don't hesitate to ask if you need more help. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 17:16, 28 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@ "GrammarFascist" is wikipedia page of particular show is counted as reliable source. For example- On wikipedia page of Mrs.Tendulkar i can find her name and role she played. And about picture i will check my cellphone if i have solo picture of her. Then what are the chances of picture not getting rejected due to copyright issue. Do i need to mention everything where i took picture and other details etc. SuryaDhakray (talk) 17:41, 28 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello SuryaDhakray. Sorry for not responding sooner, but you forgot to put [[User:GrammarFascist|GrammarFascist]] in your comment above, so Wikipedia did not notify me that you were addressing me.
Wikipedia itself is not a reliable source by its own standard, so Wikipedia articles cannot be cited as sources. But the source used in the other article (if any) can be cited in Draft:Khushbu Thakkar.
I just noticed another problem, however. It seems you misunderstood me when I said "it's not necessary to list every single role she has had there — just the ones that were her most substantial roles (with lots of screen time), or the ones that are the most popular shows, or some of each. I have no way of knowing about these shows and her roles on them, though. Could you remove all but the most substantial roles and most popular shows from that section?" — the "lead section" I referred to is the very first part of the article. That first section should list only the highlights of Ms. Khushbu's career; the table in the ===Television=== section should list all the shows which a source states she appeared in. Sorry for the confusion. I will go restore the table from an earlier version of the draft, and then you can remove all but the highlights from the first part of the article. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 19:28, 30 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

hi @ GrammarFascist i am sorry to disturb you again. But the article which we made after providing most of refrences and sources; they rejected it again. I dont know what they mean by relaible sources. If these people dont count times of india a leading news paper as reliable sources. Then what is the meaning of writing all the articles. I have seen lot of pages of celebrities which dont even have enough materials to get on wikipedia are already approved. I am not sure what to do next to get my article approved. Please help me out. Thanks!! SuryaDhakray (talk) 21:44, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

hi SwisterTwister i am not sure about what do you guys needed in reliable sources. I have worked with GrammarFascist and we both have searched a lot about Khushbu Thakkar and provided all the references we found. If Times of India which is India’s leading English daily is putting article on her so as per you that is not a reliable source. There are 15 refrences that we added on this article and I think it should be enough to be accepted as an article. SuryaDhakray (talk) 16:21, 13 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Khushbu.Jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Khushbu.Jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. – Train2104 (t • c) 22:02, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
