De-orphaning edit

Hi ScrappyYapper, I notice that you have been trying to de-orphan articles recently. Thank you for making an effort in that area as it's definitely needed. Unfortunately it looks to me like you are not in fact de-orphaning anything. When an article (let's call it "Article X") is tagged as an orphan that means that it has little or no incoming links. To fix that problem you need to add links pointing from other articles to "Article X". It doesn't matter how many links you add to "Article X", it is still called an orphan unless it has other articles that link to it.

If we use Asymmetric negotiation as an example, I can see that you added several links, but if you look at the "What links here" link under Tools at the left side of the screen, you find that there are still no incoming links from proper articles. Remember that redirects, disambiguation pages, drafts, and non-mainspace incoming links don't count as incoming links because they aren't indexed by search engines. For now I have reverted your removal of orphan tags, but if you would like assistance to continue to de-orphan pages or if you would like to join Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify whose mission is to add inter-article links, then please ask at WT:DEORPHAN or at The Teahouse. Thanks again for your help! -Thibbs (talk) 01:00, 21 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
