False edit summary and insertion of error at Hunter Biden article

Please do not use misleading edit summaries when making changes to Wikipedia pages, as you did to Hunter Biden. This behavior is viewed as disruptive, and continuation may result in loss of editing privileges. Quoting from the inline citation, "MBNA's consulting payments to Hunter Biden, first reported by The New York Times, followed his departure in 2001 from the company, where he had been an executive."-- Noren (talk) 06:46, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

Here is the citation from the CNN News Article, "Who is Hunter Biden": "He was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve as a director in the Department of Commerce handling ecommerce policy issues, a post he held from 1998 to 2001." Hunter Biden could not have left MBNA in 2001 AND worked at the Commerce Dept. under the Clinton Administration 1998-2001. The Clinton Administration ended in January 2001. As I mentioned in the article talk page, it is possible for a person to be employed by more than one entity at the same time. The CNN cite you mention does not provide any dates at all and so does not contradict the CBS cite which clearly and specifically indicates the 2001 date. I would also recommend that you review WP:MINOR- you erroneously marked your second, obviously contentious, edit as minor. --Noren (talk) 18:21, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

I am sorry, but you cannot be working for the U.S. Department of Commerce as a Director and be working as a Sr. Vice President of a banking company. The conflict of interest is clear. It is also very clear from the Employment Timeline from OpenSecrets.com that Biden left MBNA in 1998 to join the Commerce Department. Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently been editing post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people which has been designated a contentious topic. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

follow editorial and behavioural best practice;

comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and

refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations.
