List of inductees of Canada's Walk of Fame edit

You've reverted my editd wholesale, and in the process restored the link Saint-Raymondde-Portneuf, Quebec that should be Saint-Raymond, Quebec. The error comes probably from a typo in your source material, but it's wrong nontheless. On a related note, please don't be so hooked on the one single source, even if it's the official website, this wiki list CAN be better than the source material. Cheers. --Qyd 19:11, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I'll bite. Why shouldn't Wayne's entry be numbered in the list? your edit. I did, however, partially revert the formatting of the table legend which had been whacked long ago in some other vandal/revert. — MrDolomite | Talk 17:58, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Aha, that makes sense now, I didn't see that he had two rows. I'm guessing that somewhere along the line, the explanation of the x and the * were lost in an edit/revert. — MrDolomite | Talk 19:06, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Springfield Elementary School Students edit

Are you seriously defending bad grammar? The present tense is the proper form, and it is used half the time even in the portions you revised. Lisa switches Allison's diorama with "a one", is the cow or the heart bloody, and why is Allison voiced "although" by Pamela Hayden? I'll leave it alone since it seems to be your pet project, but it looks horrible, just pray someone literate doesn't show up after I'm gone.--Son of Somebody 01:58, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Snowball edit

I'm trying to organize the pictures so that the NON-screenshot of Snowball is at the top af the article (like all other Simpson characters). Apart from the fact that Snowball II and V look *exactly* the same, note that I didn't swap the *pictures*, but re-arranged the infoboxes. Please stop reverting my edits. --Edokter (Talk) 23:33, 20 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

(Copied reply) My problem with that is that now the current Snowball doesn't have an infobox, which she probably should. -- Scorpion 02:34, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think two (or more) infoboxes are redundant and confusing. Plus, the image for Snowball doesn't say which Snowball it is, so it could just as well be Snowball V. --Edokter (Talk) 12:24, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

What's your opinion? edit

I checked the edit history on the "spam link" band editor you just rv'd off of the Canadian bands list. I found this: Rocket 88s. Is it just me or is that a mass advertising for a whole bunch of non-notable nobodys?(minus 1 or 2) I believe the whole part n purpose of that article is simply to link up the nn Peterborough band that you rv'd off the main list. If you are in agreement with me on this I will ask an admin friend to look into it deeper. Cheers! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 02:23, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am slowing down for the night...I will chip in with the CSD tagging tomorrow. I've already tagged a dozen articles today. Only 1 remains alive(the regular editor hit it with a {hold-on}). It'll be gone tomorrow. I'd hate to be a new article patroller. Reading fluff n fuzz all day long. Wikipedia's rules for notability are plain and simple. But thousands of band articles appear here everyday trying to promote a bunch of never-beens...and never-will-be's. It's a good thing thet're easy to spot. I tagged one today whose career highlight was "headlining all-nighters in Joey's basement". Fun fun fun. Cheers! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 02:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
One quick note. When you're tagging you don't need to type a reason. Just add {{db-band}} and that'll cover it from there. Cheers! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 03:01, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aaron Lines edit

Article states 3 albums. Doesn't that meet WP:BAND? Tyrenius 03:27, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, according to WP:BAND it is enough:
Below are some criteria that make it very likely that sufficient reliable information is available about a given group or individual musician.
Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable).
You can try AfD, but it's not clear-cut enough for speedy. The fact of releasing albums asserts significance per se.
Tyrenius 03:37, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy is for things that are highly unlikely to be contested (like people jamming in their living room). I've just removed tag from Captain Tractor - 7 albums over 11 years. That in itself asserts significance. Try prod and/or AfD if you wish. You might like to review your other speedy tags. A bit of restraint please, but well done for vigilance. Tyrenius 03:44, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I know what you mean, but if you try speedy for something that isn't a clear speedy, then it takes up admin time. You have to exercise proper judgement or you won't be very popular. If it's not blatant speedy, then please do prod, and if that's removed (anyone can remove it), then AfD, if you think AfD is merited. Tyrenius 04:06, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Also, if someone contests the speedy deletion, please do not add it back. Wikipedia:Speedy deletion is used only for articles on which there is pretty much universal agreement on deletion; if they are contested, send them to WP:AFD. Titoxd(?!?) 06:16, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Reverie Sound Revue edit

You've speedied Reverie Sound Revue, one of the members Lisa Lobsinger is a recording member of the band Broken Social Scene: And as per WP:BAND:
5. Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such.

Do you think we should add the article to Lisa Lobsinger's page?

Also FYI: Reverie Sound Revue (EP) - Ozzykhan 16:17, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

First of all relax! As for: "It's the same with that one. So, a member played for Broken Social Scene, so? That alone should not make a band notable" - Yes the page should be deleted, I am just asking if we should include the content of Reverie Sound Revue to Lisa Lobsinger's page or are you planning to db that as well? - Ozzykhan 16:26, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ten Second Epic is another... not a speedy case...--Isotope23 19:53, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bands edit

You're always welcome to propose a policy change to WP:MUSIC if you'd like. But what you're not free to do is to ignore or misrepresent whether a band meets the criteria listed there just because you consider them non-notable. Many of the bands you're disputing are far beyond the level of "headlined high school prom"; national media coverage, playlisting on CBC Radio 3, releasing albums on Mint Records or Sub Pop, having had Neko Case or Lisa Lobsinger as a member, etc., are all sufficient criteria of notability under our current policy. Wikipedia has policies and processes for a reason. And I'm not disputing all of the bands you're listing, but some of them simply aren't speedy-deletable under current policy. Bearcat 19:03, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

If a specific band's article actually lists "headlined high school prom" as one of their primary achievements, then yeah, that particular band is certainly non-notable and speedyable. But in your original post to my talk page, you characterized all of the bands you db'd as being at the high school prom level of notability, which clearly isn't the case. Again, some of the bands you flagged are legitimately deletable, it's just that some others aren't. Nobody's trying to attack you; we're just asking that you familiarize yourself a bit more with some of the specific criteria in WP:MUSIC, keeping in mind that a band needs to meet just one of those criteria to be notable enough for WP. It doesn't have to meet every one of them. Bearcat 22:15, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
The bottom line is that Wikipedia has specific quantifiable criteria that are used to determine the notability of bands. There isn't any other way to differentiate "minor" from "major" beyond those criteria. If a band meets those specific criteria, it's in; if it doesn't, it's out. If you don't like the criteria at hand, you're free to propose alternate ones for discussion. But policy is policy whether you agree with it or not — it isn't some random thing that people spout off for no good reason. It's our rules as they stand. Until such time as the policy is changed, you need to respect the policy as written. Bearcat 00:22, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, I'm afraid that's just too damn bad, then. Policy is policy, and my job as an administrator is to enforce Wikipedia policy as it stands, not individual editors' nonconsensual views of what Wikipedia policy should be. WP:BAND does not have a criterion that determines article-worthiness on the basis of measuring whether they're more or less famous than a particular TV character; it has specific quantifiable criteria that are spelled out and are not your prerogative to ignore just because you've never heard of a particular artist. Similarly, TV characters have their own specific set of quantifiable criteria for determining notability; they're not measured against rock bands. Bearcat 01:16, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wiki-Inclusionists edit

Ahhh...Wiki-inclusionists....the scurge of all quality on Wikipedia. Wiki has 1.5 million articles.....1.4 million of which are useless. Inclusionist intrusions mean hundreds of non-notable spam are allowed to stick around on Wikipedia. I read one of the edit summaries saying that the subject had been discussed in several publications and therefore met notability requirements. That the "publications" were just as non-notable as the subject didn't seem to matter??? Frustrating. Mass CSDs draw too much attention I guess and I am sorry for suggesting it. I also apologise for not reading through the list thoroughly enough...the Lines guy scapes notability(the bottom) as one of his releases is on RCA Nashville...certainly a notable label. I don't think the Chad AfD will get too far either. Just my opinion. The guys a nobody selling tapes out of his Mom's garage...but lo and behold he got his tracks issued(probably vey limited issue) by Sub Pop....again a very notable label. Wikipedia wasn't built in a day. And it won't have the crap scaped off of it in a day either. CSD is backlogged into the attic right now and aren't going to get the attention they need. So patience for now. And....if someone other than an admin tries to remove any tags that you place....put them back. Good luck! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 15:24, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not so. Anyone apart from article creator can remove CSD tag:
If this page does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, or you intend to fix it, please remove this notice, but do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself.
Anyone at all can remove prod tag. Of course AfD tags should not be removed (unless AfD is concluded). Tyrenius 02:45, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:U2 on Simpsons.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Lou Marsh Trophy edit

If we need to go to a WP:RFC, we can do that. Your deletion of content because you've fallen in love with a cute table isn't going to fly. I know you spent time working on it, I know you like it ... but it's poor Wikipedia editing to delete content just because you're determined to add a colouful table you spent time creating. You can put the content in a cute table if you'd like, but not by deleting useful information. And if you do, it's not good form to wikilink years the way you have been. See WP:MOS. --Walor 00:16, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I thought your last edit was okay -- I'd still say it was a poor editing decision, but at least it was implemented fine. But then another editor converted the table you had made into something utterly horrendous with all sorts of extra code, so I put it back as a list. I've wikilinked the sports as you had them (the years should NOT be wikilinked), but if the table is going to look like that other editor had it, then we don't want that kind of table. --Walor 00:29, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your edit to Template:Zeldaproj edit

I don't understand your most recent edit. The template previously had a nested copy of {{NESproj}}, which means when that gets updated, so does Zeldaproj. Your change looks like you subst'd it in, which now means if one needs to be updated, the other will be out of date. Am I missing something? —Dgiest c 22:13, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

What I did was make it so that articles can be evaluated on that template under the WP:Nintendo scope. Under the old way, you couldn't add the articles grade, so if you wanted to note in the page, a sperate template had to be added. Take Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for example. Before, it had 2 WP:nintendo templates. Now it has 1. -- Scorpion 22:16, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Then I think you don't understand how Zeldaproj was working. It was set up so it could take all the variables of NESproj, and then produce its own message box, as well as a version of the NESproj and CVGproj boxes. In Talk:The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Majora's_Mask there should not have been both Zeldaproj and NESproj because Zeldaproj contained a copy of NESproj. —Dgiest c 22:19, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I realize that. But now, the only difference is that there will be a rating on the Nintendo template as well. -- Scorpion 22:22, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
All you needed to do was pass in the correct variable to the NESproj from Zeldaproj, not subst a copy. If you need help doing that I can do it for you. And please, reply here so we can have a cohesive thread in stead of putting fragmented replies on my talk page. —Dgiest c 22:24, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
If you can do that, then by all means, go ahead. I'm not that familiar with how those templates work. -- Scorpion 22:27, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well as you noticed I fixed it. Can you please look over any Zelda talk pages you modified and make sure they are using Zeldaproj and not NESproj? —Dgiest c
I didn't modify any. -- Scorpion 22:33, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Springfield Isotopes edit

I am confused by your redirect of Springfield Isotopes. The result of the AfD discussion was "keep", and the closing admin noted at the talk page that "Anyone interested in merging or redirecting should first seek consensus on this talk page." Hi, just thought I'd remind you that the article has 3 days left until it's on hold status expires. Once you are ready for it to be re-evaluated, contact me and I'll do it as soon as possible. Thanks for the time, Scorpion 18:24, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I'm a bit late to reply; I haven't had internet recently. Anyways, I wasn't really convinced anything needed changing, and I stated my reasons on the May Lee talk page. If you would go over them, that'd be great. If you still disagree and feel that the changes need to be made, I'll probably go ahead and do them.--SeizureDog 00:57, 3 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

NESproj edit

Why did you remove importance from the NESproj? - A Link to the Past (talk) 07:24, 3 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, I update them. - A Link to the Past (talk) 07:41, 3 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mimi Pond edit

I was doing that for now but I'll try and see if there's anything else I can write before nominating the page for CSD. --The preceding comment was signed by User:Sp3000 (talkcontribs) 00:32, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Simpsons edit

What is you problem with the references to the past Simpsons' episodes? Busjack 17:19, 5 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nancy Cartwright edit

I was actually just moving the history, but forgot to siphon out the edit history of the Nancy Cartwright disambiguation page. It's been disambiguated this way for a long time. I think you have a good point though, so I would suggest bringing it up on the talk page. If no one disagrees, I'll delete the diambig and we'll make this a primary topic with disambiguation at the top. Cool Hand Luke 05:48, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Probably the disambiguation, although you might consider the philosopher's page because some editors thought her significant enough to disambiguate in the first place. If there's any dispute, it's best to formally request a move. Cool Hand Luke 05:59, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Reconstructing the history, it appears that on April 1, 2005, User:AmarChandra created the page for the philosopher. At that time, the user turned Nancy Cartwright into a disambiguation and executed a cut-and-past move I've only now merged. Cool Hand Luke 06:16, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good Night (The Simpsons short) on DYK for 7 March 2007 edit

On 7 March, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Good Night (The Simpsons short), which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Thank you for your contribution! — ERcheck (talk) 23:21, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ralph Wiggum edit

Hi, you deleted my page on Ralph Wiggum (the song by The Bloodhound Gang), and in the history, it says you merged it with Hefty Fine, but I don't see anything about Ralph Wiggum on the page for Hefty Fine and your comment was that it didn't establish the song's individual notability, but I think it did, as (I'm fairly sure, anyway) it is the only song ever written entirely using quotes from a character on The Simpsons, no less Ralph Wiggum. ShandraShazam 02:41, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, well can I have a chance to rewrite the page with more information then? ShandraShazam 05:17, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cool, thanks.
But can you explain to me what "merged" actually means? Because it seems to me that if it had been merged, there'd be information about the song on Hefty Fine's page. ShandraShazam 05:24, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

2012 Summer Olympics bids GA edit

Thank you for your small suggestions to fix before the article 2012 Summer Olympics bids was noted as a Good Article. I have taken them to heart and implemented them, as you suggested. If there is nothing else you would suggest in order for it to become a GA, you may now proceed with evaluating it. Thanks. Jaredtalk  19:36, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

RHCP Article edit

Thanks a bunch for giving some much-needed constructive criticism. I think I've been rushing the article too much, and trying to get it to GA status too quickly. That said, I'm going to take some time to clean up what I've written, and wait until the right time. Really, if you'd like, you could, of course, help. Otherwise, I'd love to bring it back to you later for your approval/disapproval. Thanks again. Regards, NSR77 19:36, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also, I'd be grateful if you could give me a few more tips in the article. I've cleaned up what you identified, but, it is difficult to continue to scrutinize the page as I have written/re-written 90% of it. Anything at all would be generous. If you think it's OK for re-nomination, and you'd pass it, also feel free to inform me. NSR77 (Talk|Contribs)

Frank Grimes edit

Other articles' notability (or lack thereof) doesn't matter - how notable is this? Is there a reliable source to comment on his popularity, or the episode's? And making some cameos doesn't make Frank notable, either. - A Link to the Past (talk) 22:58, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Regardless, it's a character who appears in one episode. He is popular, yes, but he has an article because The Simpsons' criteria for notability is comparatively low compared to other projects'. I mean, look at the frontrunners of the WP:CVG project - they have a pretty high standard for characters. - A Link to the Past (talk) 23:07, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use edit

A fair use rationale is used for an image that is placed on a specific article. For example, because the image is of the WWE Championship, the rationale would be for the WWE Championship article and not the list article. Because of this, the image is intended to be used only on the WWE Championship page to not violate any copyright laws or Wikipedia's Image use policies. -- bulletproof 3:16 23:09, 17 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

See there you go. The public domain image is perfect because it doesn't violate any of Wikipedia's copyright laws or fair use rationale guidelines. Images on Wikipedia are not to be used for decorative purposes. They are used to describe the subject of the article. The WWE Championship image by itself when used on the List article did nothing to describe who's previously one the title, which is what the article is supposed to be about. However, the image with John Cena with the belt at least shows who the current champion is. Nice job. Cheers! -- bulletproof 3:16 23:25, 17 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Really it's whatever you feel appropriate. If you wish to contribute, be my guest (There's nothing stopping you =) ), but if you wish to simply wait until it's more "together" to review it, you may do so. NSR77 (Talk|Contribs) 23:35, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA candidates edit

Hey, I'm really sorry I couldn't get to the article before someone else reviewed it. I'm trying to come off of a wikibreak, and I'm finiding it difficult to get back into wiki-editing mode. Give me a week or two, and I should be back to full form. Thanks for your patience, and thanks for your confidence in me to review your GA candidates. –King Bee (τγ) 14:05, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Waylon Smithers edit

Springfield Isotopes edit

I feel like I must be missing something here. From my point of view, it looks like you nominated the article for deletion, and it was kept. Less than seven hours later, you disregard the AfD and redirect the article, ignoring the closing admin's advice to seek consensus at the talk page. When I call you on it, you redirect the article again, citing as precident a redirect that was never an article, and certainly never passed an AfD discussion. When I revert this edit as well, a month passes, during which four different editors edit the article, and then you redirect it again. You call this one a merge, but you made no edits to the article you redirected to. Your comments in the ensuing revert war indicate that you consider the AfD illegitimate and outdated. Is there something I don't understand here? If not, by what authority do you continue to effectively delete this article without consensus? And what about the previous AfD do you consider invalid? --Maxamegalon2000 17:37, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

List of WWE Champions edit

We count them the same reason we do in overall world title reigns (like the list of world champions by length and the number of world title reigns). The title reigns did happen, the cross is there to let readers know WWE doesn't count them, but PWI and many other sources DO and they will be counted. To do anything else hurts the article and makes it less accurate. TJ Spyke 19:30, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Featured topic edit

Although you deleted it from the project talk page, I have to say I have been thinking about this for a while (great minds and all that), and I think that Season 8 could be a really possibility. If we get the The Simpsons (season 8) page to FL standard (as well as the other 17 season pages) and almost all of the pages to GA, with Homer's Phobia hopefully FA, we should be able to do it. I think (although it will take months), possible for us to get every page from the first nine seasons to GA standard, I mean 'Round Springfield and Simpson Roasting passed didn't they, and their reception sections were tiny. Gran2 06:33, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'd go with that, but if you'll direct your eyes to El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer), you'll see I'm in the middle of it, but you can finish it if you want, iy just needs Johnny Cash's guest voice to be added to the reception section, and the production section to be refed and completed. Gran2 14:23, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Okay, just so I can book some now, I'll do In Marge We Trust, Homer vs. The Eighteenth Amendment, Lisa's Date with Density and The Springfield Files. Gran2 14:38, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ah the joys of being at home, I'm pretty sure the current name is the best option, I mean it varies, the DVD has no (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer), yet the Official site does. But that misses out the Misterioso completely. Also I'm gone from 4:30 for an hour, but I'll be back after then. Gran2 14:47, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Just a quick check on something, this was in the EVMdNJ article:

"The Fox censors sent a note to the writers about the part in which Homer coats his mouth with hot wax so he can eat Chief Wiggum's Insanity pepper. The note read: "To discourage imitation by young and foolish viewers, when Homer begins to pour hot wax into his mouth, please have him scream in pain so kids will understand that doing this would actually burn their mouths.""

When I first started working on the page it was being referenced with TV.com, which obviously can't be used, but I swear it was in the DVD commentary, but it isn't! So, can you find any source that confirms it? Or is it made up and should just be removed. Gran2 17:48, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's from Planet Simpson. -- Scorpion 17:52, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I see, I knew I had read it somewhere, I only got Planet Simpson a few days ago, and so haven't really read it. Thanks. Gran2 18:08, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nice, that's very useful. My "friend" Fr4zer told me that he wants to help, but I don't really think that he'd see any through, so I'm not counting him right now. Gran2 19:08, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Season 8 edit

I do have the Season 8 DVDs. Unfortunately, I haven't been too active in the last few days because there's only four weeks left in the semester and I have been really busy. That might ease up this weekend though. What sort of schedule are you thinking of? Natalie 00:09, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
