Hello, I received notification that my submission to create a new page for influencer Tamara Kalinic has been denied. I am writing to formally appeal this decision. I understand that the decision may have been made due to insufficient references or links provided. Please allow me the opportunity to add more reference and whatever else is needed. I am dedicated to crafting a page that accurately represents this bloggers achievements and impact.
I kindly request that you reconsider my appeal and grant me the chance to improve the submission. Your guidance and feedback throughout this process would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. SavvyFare (talk) 16:56, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
There are a couple of separate matters here:
  1. I have declined your draft, because it was entirely promotional in tone and content, and not based on reliable and independent sources. If it isn't deleted (see next point), you are welcome to continue editing it, and can resubmit it once you have rectified these problems.
  2. I have also requested that it be deleted for the same reason. That will depend on an administrator attending to the request. If you wish to contest the deletion request, you must do so on the draft's talk page, and you must do it very soon as it may be deleted at any moment.
You should also read and action the section below, titled 'Managing a conflict of interest'.
Thank you, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:06, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
THank you. I just missed it- and it has already been deleted. Does this mean I have to begin all over again and create and resubmit a brand new draft? SavvyFare (talk) 17:31, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that's what it means. And as it turns out to have been a copyright violation as well, it probably won't be returned to you even if you were to ask. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:39, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Copywrite? I had used some of the text on Tamara's Website. But i added the hyperlink to the website. Im not sure now what to do. i cannot create a new Tamara Kalinic page? SavvyFare (talk) 18:06, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please respond to this query, so that I don't have to keep asking. Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:13, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, im replying in response to this query. I am reading above that this has been tagged a potential conflict of interest? I am not associated with the person and i dont have an organization that is linked here. I would appreciate the opportunity to work on my edits and read more about avoiding any potential promotional text. SavvyFare (talk) 23:33, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello SavvyFare! Your additions to Draft:Tamara Kalinic have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source. You must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. Read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Our policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 17:06, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Advice on getting established as an editor

edit

Your first attempts to create an article have been deleted, which must be frustrating, as you had evidently put a significant amount of work into them. My advice to new editors is that it is best to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than creating new articles. That way any mistakes you make will be small ones, and you won't have the discouraging experience of repeatedly seeing hours of work deleted. Gradually, you will get to learn how Wikipedia works, and after a while you will know enough about what is acceptable to be able to write whole new articles without fear that they will be deleted. Over the years I have found that editors who start by making small changes to existing articles and work up from there have a far better chance of having a successful time here than those who jump right into creating new articles from the start. JBW (talk) 13:14, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate the advice and will try that. Does this mean I can attempt to create new ones again once I feel like understand the rules better? SavvyFare (talk) 13:21, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
