August 2013 edit

Please refrain from making test edits in Wikipedia pages, such as those you made to Kmart, even if you intend to fix them later. Your edits do not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Yngvadottir (talk) 12:12, 29 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for registering an account, but I have reverted your edits as non-constructive. In particular, you removed things, perhaps accidentally? and you changed a number without providing a new reference. Yngvadottir (talk) 12:12, 29 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

September 2013 edit

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 23:51, 15 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Saulalvarez: I note that you are updating articles on retailers, for example with the Saks Fifth Avenue acquisition. However, you are still not providing references, as you were told to above; also, at Kmart, you have now twice changed the number of stores; it is not 1,000 either in the 2010 tax filing referenced in the infobox, or at the company's website, the reference for the numbers in the intro (that URL also gives a February date, not a May one). Please stop making these changes until you have found sources to reference them. Information on Wikipedia must be verifiable, and it is dishonest to change information while keeping the same reference when it does not agree with that reference. You must add the reference you are actually using. Yngvadottir (talk) 15:04, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes, please provide references for your edits. I will provide some useful links for you below to help you learn how to edit constructively in Wikipedia. Ground Zero | t 15:48, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Welcome! edit

Hello, Saulalvarez, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You changed the numbers at Dillard's again, again without adding a new reference, after I left my message above. Where are you getting this information? Yngvadottir (talk) 16:05, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi again - I see your message asking for help with referencing, but you left it at an article (redirect) talkpage, not the user's talkpage. He/she left you this link to the referencing for beginners' tutorial, and his/her talkpage is: User talk:Ground Zero. Yngvadottir (talk) 16:10, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
OK, now we're talking. What is the URL of that press release on the Dillard's site? You have got to stop making these changes without adding sources; you just edit-warred the change back. Put the URL here, please, so I can add it and give you an example of referencing. Yngvadottir (talk) 16:42, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
I am afraid the number you have been adding is not there. Look at [1] and open "How many stores does Dillard's operate?" Before going there, I scoured the site looking for a news release. Is it possible you were actually looking at a newspaper story or something? (By the way, my talk page is User talk:Yngvadottir - or click on the link in my signature.) Speedy deletion nomination of Yngvadottir edit

Hello Saulalvarez,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Yngvadottir for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. MrScorch6200 (talk) 17:32, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Eh, Saulalvarez, what is wrong with you? And MrScorch, why play nice and offer a hang-on tag for an obvious bit of vandalism? Drmies (talk) 17:33, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring edit

Your recent editing history at Dillard's shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Stop. Now. On all the articles. Or I or another admin will be forced to block you. Find published sources where you got these numbers from. Making an attack page about me and reverting yet again won't help your cause. The articles can wait to be updated until you find published sources. Yngvadottir (talk) 17:52, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistent disruptive editing. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  Drmies (talk) 17:53, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Not a single one of the edits you made were verified by the sources provided, yet you continue to edit-war. Throw in the personal attack against Yngvadottir and your refusal to communicate (never mind the repeated creation of inappropriate pages), and a block is the only solution.
