Topics? edit

Hi! Please put up 2 or 3 page ideas (either here or on your user page main space) that you would like to start working on, along with a short justification for why they deserve your hard work. Thanks! Daclausen (talk) 15:21, 28 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

My choices for Wikipedia pages that I would like to work on are "The Golden Girls" or possibly "Designing Women". As for the Golden Girls I pretty much know every episode inside out, and would like to do some social analysis of a few episodes as a reflection of the time in which the show was made. I could also discuss some time line discrepancies with the characters and plots. I would also like to further discuss the show appeal to the LGBTQ population. I could also do virtually the same thing for the Designing Women page.

Hello, Satxra. I think that someone that knows the shows inside and out would be a great person to continue the edits on a page. Discussion on time line discrepancies with characters is a good starting point. In fact, there are quite a few recurring characters on the page. Would you add a section for the basic plots of the show? AAman45 (talk) 20:40, 11 October 2015 (UTC)AAman45Reply

Hey Satxra, I think a social analysis of any page could be really interesting. Whether or not others agree with your analysis is another story entirely. I'm guessing you're going to have to spend some time engaging in the talk pages. Then again, maybe not! Regardless, your ideas sound really interesting, and definitely something that you could contribute to Wikipedia. RumbleofThunder (talk) 01:19, 12 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

The problem with "Golden Girls" is that it is already a very well developed page, one that earns a B rating. I am not sure you'll be able to contribute easily to improving the page. Also, the analysis that you're suggesting sounds like it would fall within Wikipedia's "no original research" policy. The same can be said for "Designing Women" though it's a lower quality. Clearly you are interested in Television shows--maybe you could find another TV show (after some research) that doesn't yet have more than a stub? This is going to take some doing. I have chosen a new page to edit: Weslaco, Texas. The page is rated as "Start-Class". This is my home town and there are quite a few things I can add to this page. There are several notable people from Weslaco that I can add, as well as information on Museums, Libraries, and Tourism.

Weslaco, Texas Article edit

Weslaco, Texas Wikipedia Article

My Wikipedia project will be to update the Weslaco, Texas article. The article is rated Start-Class, and is need of additional information.

There are some notable people missing from the article including Ramiro Cavazos of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Currently living in San Antonio, Ramiro is a native of Weslaco.

Information can be added about the two local museums: The Weslaco Bicultural Museum and The Hidalgo County Historical Museum. There are seven public libraries in the Weslaco and surrounding region as well.

Tourism is important to Weslaco. The area is popular with so called "Winter Texans". Weslaco is home to a state park with many nature trails.

Given that Weslaco is my home town, I feel I can add a variety of information from various sources.
