Anthony McGee - deletion review

Hi Sarah,

I am asking for a review on the page deletion: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Anthony_McGee

Tony McGee is a notable photographer and filmmaker, starting his work in fashion at the age of sixteen, and by seventeen he had shot covers for Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. At the age of twenty-five he directed his first television commercial, winning gold at the Cannes Lions International Advertising and Film Festival. Following that success he went on to direct over two hundred and fifty commercials for television and cinema. Tony has also worked on campaigns for L’Oreal, Nestle, Proctor and Gamble, Rolex, Nivea, and Chanel. Tony’s first book, ‘Boxing Ballerinas’, celebrates the unique collaboration between the boxer and the ballet dancer. ‘Room at the Top’, McGee’s second book; again concentrating on the world of ballet, the book features a unique series of photographs taken in a three meter square room at the top of a prestigious ballet school in London. Tony’s third book, ‘Swans and I Dream’, is a beautiful collection of photographs of the swan photographed all over the world only by the light of the moon. Principal photography on Tony’s new short film ‘Jackie and Marilyn: A Conversation’ takes place in New York City, April 2016. He is currently headlining photos in London and New York with his iconic photos of David Bowie and Kate Moss (aged 14 - re Atlas Gallery).

I am very happy to update the page, and amend dead links as mentioned in the deletion discussion. Attached is Tony's website, where you can see for yourself the calibre of his work, but we are very surprised that no one was able to find sources to confirm this before deletion!

@Tonymcgeephotography: - The result of the deletion discussion was to delete the page. If you would like the decision reviewed then the place to do that is WP:deletion review. If there are independant, reliable sources covering Anthony McGee in detail then please provide them to prove that he meets the notability guidlines. Sarahj2107 (talk) 15:20, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

@Sarahj2107: The Deletion review page instructs me to discuss the matter with the closing administrator - is that not yourself? If not could you point me in their direction to save going down the full deletion review. Thanks.

Is this in relation to the Anthony McGee page? Sarahj2107 (talk) 14:04, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
@Sarahj2107: It is yes. No worries if I've got it wrong - I will go to the next line of action on the Deletion review page. Thanks. Tonymcgeephotography (talk) 14:51, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
@Tonymcgeephotography: I was the closing administrator. As I said above, the result of the discussion was clearly delete and you will need to provide multiple independent, reliable sources to prove he meets the general notability guidlines if the page is to be recreated. If you think I closed the discussion incorrectly or you have new information that would justify the page being recreated then I am more than happy for you to take the matter to Deletion review. Deletion review for Anthony McGee

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Anthony McGee. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. 217.138.30.116 (talk) 10:14, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Cheese Nugs (food)

Upon noticing the Log for the deletion of this page, I saw that it has been made and deleted 3 times over the last 2 days, perhaps a short term block from page creation for said page could stop repeated creation? I don`t actually know if this might be multiple accounts that are socking, but just a heads up so that maybe this problem can get solved.

Thanks,

Happy_Attack_Dog (Throw Me a Bone) 15:13, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

@Happy Attack Dog: - All three creations were by the same user who has now been blocked. If another account shows up to recreate again then I'll salt it but at the moment I don't think it's necessary. Sarahj2107 (talk) 15:18, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/O Mahi

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/O_Mahi

I nominated all articles, categories, templates about this DJ Ritendra which was created by the same user through non-RS sources. The delete votes supported deletion of all articles. You deleted only the first article. --Greek Legend (talk) 05:31, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

Sorry Greek Legend I meant to leave you a note about that but I must have got distracted and forgot. The other articles were not properly included in the AFD and were therefore not tagged with the AFD template. There was also no clear consensus to delete all of them; one person !voted delete on all but everyone else only seemed to be commenting on O Mahi. I wouldn't feel comfortable deleting the other pages, categories and templates based on that AFD, it would make it very easy for someone who wanted to keep the articles to complain that the correct procedure wasn't followed and that I acted improperly; I really don't want that drama. WP:MULTIAFD will show you how to properly nominate multiple articles. Templates might need to be nominate at WP:TFD and categories at WP:CFD, I'm not sure if they can be included in a multi AFD. Just let me know if you need any help. Sarahj2107 (talk) 07:58, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
Can you re nominate those articles using multiafd tools. You can comment that it was my request. I don't know about the process and proper edits for mutiafd. If those articles get deleted, I will nominate the templates and categories. Greek Legend (talk) 08:04, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
DJ Ritendra discography This could also be added, which was created by the same user. I didn't check other articles about a different artist (unrelated to DJ Ritendra) created by the user. Greek Legend (talk) 08:59, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
Done. If there are other problem articles about a different artist then it's probably best to nominate them separately. Sarahj2107 (talk) 09:05, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jordan Schweitzer

In follow-up to the now archived discussion, I went to WP:DRV however upon reading the criteria, I felt that WP:REFUND was a more appropriate venue, and have opened a discussion at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion#Jordan Schweitzer. Nfitz (talk) 15:59, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Google news search

You once told me to google search within quotation marks. After that I found that articles which I thought non-notable actually has some notability. Do you know any other tricks? --Greek Legend (talk) 02:03, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

@Greek Legend: - I glad the quotation marks helped. Google has a list of search oporators that can be really useful. I find that adding a descriptive term relevant to the subject (eg. a birth year or profession) can narrow things down. Using the - before a term you don't want is also helpful for removing articles about different people with the same name (pick a word only found in the article you don't want). Page to be deleted.

Greetings,

Please can you delete this wiki page? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bl%C3%A1thnaid_McKenna

Cheers,

Bláthnaid — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blathnaidmckenn (talkcontribs) 15:38, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

@Blathnaidmckenn: - I can't delete the page unless it meets one of the speedy deletion criteria (which it doesn't) or there is consensus to do so after a discussion at Articles for Deletion. You need to follow the instructions on that page to nominate it for deletion. Sarahj2107 (talk) 15:43, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

Clive Matson

An issue with Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Clive Matson that isn't obvious: The content at Clive Matson was moved from User:Abigail48/Clive Matson under the edit summary "stale draft found" (not by the author whose namespace in which it resided). Per the guideline about such moves WP:STALEDRAFT "If suitable for mainspace, move to mainspace". If the content gets nominated for deletion and subsequently deleted, it clearly wasn't suitable for the mainspace.

So, that leads to my request, would you restore the content to User:Abigail48/Clive Matson? Best Regards,Godsy(TALKCONT) 20:45, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

@Godsy: - I am aware of the discussions that have taken place at ANI lately about the issue of drafts being moved from user space to main space then nominated for deletion and I really don't want to get involved. It was nominated in good faith by someone other than the person who moved it and the nomination stated that it had been created in draftspace and moved. Concusses was to delete not to move back to draft/user space and I closed the discussion accordingly. It seems unlikely given their contributions but if Abigail48 would like the page restored to their user space then they can ask me themselves. Until then I don't really feel happy recreating it for fear of being dragged into any ongoing drama surrounding the issue. However, I have no problem with you bringing this to whichever venue you think is suitable or with another admin recreating if they want. Sarahj2107 (talk) 21:19, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
I understand. The issue is with the actions of others, not yours which were reasonable and consensus based. I'll be sure to make that clear if I list this at WP:DRV. Thanks for the kind response.Godsy(TALKCONT) 21:29, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Sarah, thank you for your recent clean-ups on the page about me/my work (Martin Cassini). Would you be able to update the page with some more recent articles and references, some of which can be found here: http://www.equalitystreets.com/presspublications/ ? Also, would it be possible to remove the warning notice? With thanks Seeplain (talk) 19:05, 1 April 2016 (UTC) 1.4.2016

Overflow at your dashboard page

Dear User:Sarahj2107. Your User:Sarahj2107/Dashboard page has turned on overflow. You are using a copy of {{admin dashboard}}. Instead, you could perhaps transclude the template {{admin dashboard/light}}, that provides the same functionality but is far less prone to overflow. Thanks in advance for helping to empty the Category:Pages_where_template_include_size_is_exceeded. Pldx1 (talk) 09:57, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know about this Pldx1, I wasn't aware of template limits. I didn't transclude the template because I wanted to customize it for the things I look at most often. It seems to have fixed the problem but please let me know if what I have done is likely to be an issue and I'll remove some things. Sarahj2107 (talk) 10:42, 2 April 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing the problem. Customizing your dashboard isn't a problem. If any other admin backlog turns on overflow, the most simple/efficient fix would be to only link to this backlog instead of transcluding it. Have a good day. Pldx1 (talk) 11:06, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Ruby article

I noticed you had reviewed edits for the Ruby article recently. Last week I was looking for information on why Burmese rubys are brighter than others, but didn't find it in the article (probably relates to clarity, quantum yield or quenching effects, not discussed). But I did want to fix the inaccuracies found in the present article, and proposed text with an Edit Request. Was hoping it could be reviewed before I forgot about it.66.19.92.22 (talk) 21:54, 5 April 2016 (UTC)

Thanks !

It's so easy to forget, but for your corrections in the Nordic countries article, do I herby thank you! I know that "Danish" is a kind of pastry or bun. But in Scandinavia (to which Finland isn't a part, except perhaps for the Åland islands), we give the Austrians "the blame" (and it's indeed a very fat and unhealthy product), or rather the Viennans, as they are called Wienerbrød in Danish and Norwegian and Wienerbröd in Swedish. And we don't use "Vienna" for the Austrian capital, but the German name - Wien. And "bröd"/"brød" means simply "bread". Why do you blame Denmark, by the way :) ? I still thought Danish would automatically be linked to the language. But anyway thank you very much indeed, I can see you have made sure all the languages will not be mixed up with any food. (And in the UK there is something eatable called "Swedes" , whatever that may be ! I live in Scania, the southernmost of Sweden, but I have heared about "Tornedalska" (perhaps "Tornedalian" in English. It is counted as a language, and is spoken on (atleast) the Swedish side of the border-river Torne Älv, and it's incomprahencable to Swedes, but presumably not to Finnish. I just know of its existence, and was surpriced when no blue link came up, as with the very small language Southern-Sami (which by the way isn't comprahended by Nortern-Sami). Sorry for the lenght of this meassage, but I really want to Thank You once again Boeing720 (talk) 22:39, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

@Boeing720: You're welcome. About Tornedalska, I noticed we have an article about Tornedalians which lists their languages as Finnish, Meänkeli and Swedish. We also have an article titled Meänkieli dialects. Maybe one of those pages could be linked where Tårnedalian is mentioned in the article. I'll let you decide as you know more about the subject than me and I wouldn't want to link to the wrong thing. Sarahj2107 (talk) 07:04, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
I have came to the same conclution myself, (if though trough some other "route") I have fixed that at Nordic countries. I think I chose "Tornedalian" , which is more English (in my subjective opinion atleast) than the other one. Cheers ! Boeing720 (talk) 10:12, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

AOHNP

dear Sarah

I have tried to create a page for the AOHNP (association of oc health nurse practitioners), which I note you have deleted for breach of a condition.

the association is a not for profit professional association. Please would you advise which part of it was not factual, as it was not intended to be a promotional page, just a reference point for people to understand what it is about

Lucy Kenyon LLOCKET (talk) 15:06, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

@LLOCKET: The problem is not that it is not factual, I'm sure it is. The main issue is that it was copied directly from the AOHNP website in violation of the copyright. Wikipedia can not host copyrighted material for legal reasons, you need to write things in your own words. The other problem is that it was written in a promotional tone. You may not intend it to be a promotional page but the tone of things written on company/organization websites is very different to the tone use in an encyclopedia. I suggest you read some of the policy/guideline pages linked on your talk page and try to find some independent, reliable sources to prove notability. Sarahj2107 (talk) 16:25, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

Deletion double standards

As I have just been informed that several hours of my work has been deleted I wanted to write and say just how disappointed I was with the decision. Disappointed on several levels

1. the clique that edits wikipedia pages seems to have double standards 2. you use your own language - you don't make it easy for occasional editors/creators such as myself 3. Your system of communication is not user friendly

So let's look at Double Standards - Victoria Nixon's page was deleted - yet Linda Morand's is allowed to exist without attack - despite the individual being no more "notable" and having no more references that can be proven within the confines of the web. And whilst I'll accept that Naomi Campbell is far more notable to claim that Victoria's page was "self-promotion" when Naomi Campbell's isn't??? That's just ludicrous.

Your own coding, your own language your own little discussion groups and committees - it's like the inner workings of the catholic church or some sect. It's seems that you make your won rules and then ignore them when it takes your fancy!

Communication - well for those of us who do not only live within the wiki-world we have other means of communication - one's we are required to give wikipedia when we register and ones we are far more likely to use (email perhaps!). I was aware that there was a discussion but I was not personally informed that the page was being deleted - nor that someone had decided that I had a conflict of interest in this matter. Where was the notification of that?

If you claim to set standards then you should at least operate by them and not as some secret little world.

I am soooo disappointed - yet I fully expect this message to be treated with the disdain that is clear from many of the comments in the discussion thread. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paulwest (talkcontribs) 14:01, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

@Paulwest: I understand you are upset that your work has been deleted but how exactly do you expect me to treat an angry, accusatory message on my talk page when I have done nothing wrong and I have no control over any of the problems you mentioned. I closed the discussion as delete based on the consensus reached by other editors. If you think I closed it incorrectly you may take the matter to WP:deletion review.
Regarding double standards please read WP:other stuff exists.
Regarding communication you were notified on your talk page that the page had been nominated for deletion and that that may be the outcome. You were also notified on your talk page that someone thought you had a conflict of interest. This matter was further discussed on the COI noticeboard of which you were notified.
I know that the language, various discussion venues and coding can be confusing but everyone here started out knowing nothing and learned. You have been editing here for over 10 years, if you feel you are unable or unwilling to learn these things then perhaps you would be happier not editing. Why I am getting this message that my wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aromis.co will be deleted?

Is this any error in this page? Jonraabe1234 (talk) 08:30, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

@Jonraabe1234: You're page was deleted because it was unambiguous advertising and it gave no indication of significance. Wikipedia is not a place for people to advertise their businesses. Any article you write will need to be neutrally worded and it will need to meet the guidelines of notability. Sarahj2107 (talk) 08:37, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

My Edits

I edited Stockport County's page that you reverted because I was making valid points - I have been to their matches in the past and paid my money so I have the rights to film in the football ground then after all my hard work and time carefully capturing and editing the footage I essentially get told to remove my video from the internet (I filmed using my expensive professional camera may I add)... yet anyone who films unofficial match footage on there phone oh its ok they are allowed to do that - I make no money off it and I am doing no harm.

All I'm doing with my Wikipedia edits are stating the FACTS. I own and run a highly professional video company based near the club, Stockport County have publicly embarrassed me and damaged my professional reputation by making up absolute nonsense and putting in on their website after one of their directors told me I would be ok to film.

- Alex 3570xela (talk) 14:48, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

@3570xela: Wikipedia is not a place for people to post their personal experiences and opinions, no matter how "factual" they might be. If you post contentious material is must be supported by an independent reliable source or it will be removed. Right now is looks like you are here to push a personal agenda and not to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. If you continue to post the same thing you will be blocked from editing. Sarahj2107 (talk) 14:54, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
@Sarahj2107: Encyclopedia are there to tell the facts and that exactly what I am doing I put a link on what I mentioned anyway so how was it not a valid source? I dont have animosity with the club just helping state the true facts making the article more accurate.

Dyno Nobel

Hi Sarah, I would love some help with a page I have contributed to. Dyno Nobel. The info on this site has been up for two years without flags and then, within the past week, most of the key information there was taken down and flagged as copyright problems. Although this information is similar to what is on their website, it was supported with links to outside sources and I did have the company's permission to use it.

Could you take a look at it and give your opinion on if it was in violation of copyright laws? If so, I am happy to have those sections removed but I don't want the page to be deleted as it appears it may be.

I really appreciate any help or advice you can give. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaybird7of9 (talkcontribs) 18:03, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

@Jaybird7of9: I have declined the speedy deletion as I don't see anymore copyright violations but I can't promise that another admin won't see something I missed and choose to delete. The information that was previously removed does appear to be a copyright violation. Sometimes these can be missed for a long time, hence the two years without any problems being flagged. If you want to use something directly copied from a copyrighted source then it needs to be in quotation marks and referenced. If you have permission to use copyrighted material then Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials will tell you how to do that.
In general, using text copied directly from another source, especially a company website, is not ideal as the tone is usualy too promotional for Wikipedia. I would always suggest rewriting in your own words.Sarahj2107 (talk) 18:30, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
