Composer of Irish folk songs such as Biddy Mulligan the Pride of the Coombe, and The Rose of Mooncoin.

Questioning Speedy Deletion Notification.

edit

1. The subject of the article (Seamus Kavanagh) was the author of at least one song which appears to have been approved as a Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biddy_Mulligan_the_Pride_of_the_Coombe

2. The author of "The Rose of Mooncoin" is generally considered to be Seamus Kavanagh - though I've just discovered that Wikipedia article currently has an alternative source. Consider for example http://brakn.com/brakn.html I could reference more online and print publications (for discussion page of Rose of Mooncoin article, I think.

3. Compare this with the existing article on Thomas P. Keenan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_P._Keenan

The difference here is that there are references.

I can provide references for the Seamus Kavanagh article I created, but no need for speedy deletion.

I'm aware that the Seamus Kavanagh is wanting (perhaps slightly more than the Thomas P. Keenan article), but in the same spirit, I'm hoping that others will add to it.

Biddy Mulligan, and The Rose of Mooncoin, are traditional folk standards in Ireland, and for them to have the same author, makes him worthy of an article imho.

btw. I've recently edited articles on 'Jackeen', 'Galway Bay', and 'Biddy Mulligan the Pride of the Coombe' for ye're parousal.

p.s. If I could find the hang on tag I would add it; I'm visually impaired, so sometimes the obvious doesn't stand out at me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Saoreisitheoir (talkcontribs) 23:07, 3 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
