Welcome!

Hello, Sandy Morton, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  - AndrewDressel (talk) 15:07, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Signing your comments on talk pages

edit

It really would be better if you signed your comments with four tildes "~~~~" instead of spelling out your name. That way anyone reading your comments can simply click on the link to check out your bio or leave you a personal message here. Give it a try. -AndrewDressel (talk) 14:45, 12 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

And, you need to be logged in as Sandy Morton in order for it to work. Otherwise the system doesn't know who you are and just uses your IP address. -AndrewDressel (talk) 03:41, 16 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
this is a test! I signed in as Sandy Morton, let's see if four tildes work08:27, 18 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sandy Morton (talkcontribs)
I'll try again. Sandy Morton 08:28, 18 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sandy Morton (talkcontribs)
Eureka! It works. Andrew did you receive my email with several pages from Gillispie's book a day or two ago? Sandy Morton 08:30, 18 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sandy Morton (talkcontribs)
Great, but where did you perform this test? The signatures at the ends of your messages above are not created by your four tildas. Instead, they are added by another editor running a "robot". I cannot see where you actually typed "~~~~". That's why you received the new message below.
I did receive the pages you sent, but have not had the time to read through them yet. Sorry. -AndrewDressel (talk) 13:32, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 08:32, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
