AFD closures

Sandstein I was hoping that you might look to close Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Frances M. Vega and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lizbeth Robles, both highly contentious AFDs which would benefit from your expertise. regards Mztourist (talk) 10:40, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Mztourist, thanks, but I am reluctant to close AfDs after being asked to, because this might create the impression that I was canvassed to do so because of an expectation that I'd close the AfD in a certain way. Sandstein 10:47, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
Ooops my mistake, I asked you because I respect your well reasoned closures and good humour (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Atkins (Royal Navy officer) gave me a huge laugh), not with any expectation of a particular outcome. Mztourist (talk) 10:53, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Minor correction

Hi S, hope you're well. Just a minor correction about your recent ANI close and related UTP post: the filer of the ANI report, and the editor who was warned, are two different editors. Thanks as always for patrolling these noticeboards. Levivich harass/hound 21:05, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Levivich, thanks for the note, I'll amend that. Sandstein 21:14, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Clarifying why I misattributed block

I mixed up the talk page of the blocked user, with your comment on ANI itself, as seen here. Either way, thank you for taking care of both issues and have a nice rest of the day Shushugah (talk) 22:59, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Greetings

I noticed you added Col. Anthony Henderson to the disambiguation page. Thank you for that. I saw him in the news here in case you wanted to start an article on him after all. I'm fairly busy these days, and I'm not up to the task, sorry about that. (But I probably could have started a one-sentence stub in the time it took to write this. Oops.) Best wishes. Biosthmors (talk) 03:18, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Biosthmors, thanks for the pointer, I've created a stub at Anthony Henderson (Marine). Sandstein 07:51, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Query

I there, I’m doing work in Conservation of Sturgeon with the governments of BC and Canada and have been heavily involved in saving the species including to the House of Commons in Canada. I’m a former hockey player drafted and signed to Carolina Hurricanes and have played exhibition games along with other pro leagues around the world before and after surviving the plane crash. I am wondering why you edited or deleted my profile. Thank you in advance for replying. My email is kevin@sturgeonslayers.com if you would like to email me.

Thank you in advance. 186.26.118.133 (talk) 17:48, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

I can't answer that since you don't link to the page at issue. Sandstein 18:13, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

Draft request

Hi, I'd like to get this article, List of composers who studied law, back as a draft. Also, I'd like to recreate the prose portion of the article as its own article if that's ok. Thanks.--Prisencolin (talk) 22:16, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Prisencolin, I don't undelete articles, sorry. Sandstein 22:39, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
Should I just take it to WP:REFUND?--Prisencolin (talk) 22:42, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
Prisencolin, if you can convince admins there that this content can be the basis of a viable article, you are free to do so. Sandstein 22:43, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eson xorgol

Would you mind explaining the no consensus? Nobody objected to deletion, did they? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 12:33, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

Piotrus, you're right; I've re-closed the AfD as "soft delete". Sandstein 14:40, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

Question

Hi, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Unprecedented: A Simple Guide to the Crimes of the Trump Campaign and Presidency, I don't think Diamond Remley was the page creator? Eddie891 Talk Work 22:27, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Eddie891, I've corrected that, thanks. They rather sounded like the page creator... Sandstein 22:31, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Deletion of Society of North American Goldsmiths page

Hello, we just discovered that in December 2020 our organization's Wikipedia page -- Society of North American Goldsmiths-- was deleted. Please reinstate the page. We often refer to it for the 50 year history of our organization. It tracks our past conferences and board members and the history of how the organization began. We are the main craft organization of its kind in North America. Please let us know if there are questions or what we can do to make sure that it is reinstated. If it cannot be added back to Wikipedia, is there a way that we can access the page content for our records? Thank you for your time. info@snagmetalsmith.org 208.85.238.101 (talk) 17:31, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi. Society of North American Goldsmiths was deleted because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Society of North American Goldsmiths. Why do you think the topic meets our inclusion guideline WP:GNG? Sandstein 19:18, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello, the organization is notable because it has been around for 50 years and is the main craft organization of its kind in North America, representing the field of metalsmithing and jewelry design. It has been the publisher of "Metalsmith" magazine for the past 40 years -- a journal that records the metalsmithing field's history and current work and is used by artists, students, museums, libraries and universities. Many well-known artists have been connected to the organization as founders, Board members and more, and we think those people's Wikipages were linked to ours. The scope is international. The Wiki page was in place for many years. The page served as a history of the founding of the organization, our past Board and conferences and more; so if it is unable to be reinstated we would like to have access to the content for our records and so that we can put it online elsewhere. If more information is needed please let us know. Thank you. 208.85.238.101 (talk) 16:54, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, this does not conform to the requirements set out at WP:GNG. I'll therefore not undelete the page. But I've made the deleted content available at https://textbin.net/yeexc5wftw. For copyright attribution reasons, this page will only be available for a week. Sandstein 17:05, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

About “Zhou Chengzhou”

Hello, could you tell me why the page I created was deleted? What is the reason? Can you give me a feedback? What's more, since it was deleted, why was it approved at that time? Thank you. Armidazhou (talk) 01:46, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Armidazhou, Zhou Chengzhou was deleted because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zhou Chengzhou. Nobody approves articles. Sandstein 15:02, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
@Sandstein: I believe Armidazhou is referring to Arthistorian1977 accepting the article's draft at AfC. Of course, however, approval at AfC isn't a guarantee that the article won't be removed at AfD, just that one AfC reviewer believes that, based on the reviewing guidelines, it won't be. Andrew Weil

Greetings. The opening description of Andrew Weil is Celebrity doctor. Sometime in the past, I edited Chuck Blazer's opening description to something like "convicted criminal", instead of "soccer administrator." That was pounced on as bad editing, and I was ready to dispute the issue--until I checked Adolf Hitler, still today described first as "politician" and then "dictator," which is rather neutral language given his crimes. Shouldn't Andrew Weil be afforded the same courtesy and be described initially as "physician?" Tapered (talk) 21:38, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Tapered, you should ask this on the article‘s talk page, perhaps without the Hitler comparison. I have no opinion about this. Sandstein 21:48, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
