Sam Tsui

edit

Hi there. First of all, if you really are Sam Tsui, keep in mind this is considered WP:COI and I strongly recommend you read that page. Second, I would like to remind you of a Wikipedia policy that what goes on Wikipedia, is not truth, but verifiability, so unless it's published in a reliable source, it cannot be included. Third, original research is not allowed on Wikipedia, and this includes synthesis.

Now, what sources do say are that multiple pitch variation is used, that tenor to baritone is covered. Also, it is impossible that Tsui sings an SATB arrangement because soprano and contralto are exclusively female voices, which anyone with a basic music theory understand should know. With the labels, again, not truth but verifiability: how is one supposed to know that, and where is it published in a reliable source? As far as this page says, Tsui is still part of The Duke's Men. The additional videos are immaterial. Tenor and baritone are just voice types that are referenced. Where is it published that Tsui is not a classical male singer? Chinese origin is sourced, but half-Chinese isn't.

While I don't know for certain if you are Tsui or not, you are strongly urged to read WP:COI and also WP:PRIMARY as well as WP:V. Thank you and happy editing. Yves (talk) 12:11, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for that. I was about to mention that myself. Samtsui.music, if you take a look at the actual sheet music, you will see it is arranged for males and females. Yes, the arrangement is SATB, but it is impossible for any person to sing SATB (clear voice–gender differences). Class of 2011 merely indicates graduation date; the section is still labelled "Meet The Duke's Men". The YouTube channel is a primary source, which, of course, should not be used, and that field could be changed by anytime by a person accessing the user account. The list doesn't look like it will keep members; the website makes it pretty clear to a reader that "class of 2011" is just graduating class and the members are still members. Maybe you could talk to your friends and get them to change the website? And I'm pretty sure it hasn't been years; Tsui was with them last year. Again, SATB is "soprano, alto, tenor, bass": males cannot sing soprano nor alto. There are different terms for these called sopranist and haute-contre, all in the category of countertenor, which is not one of the components of SATB. It does not matter if no one was interviewed; if something is published by a reliable secondary source, it can be published here. Again, please familiarize yourself with WP:OR as well as WP:SYNTH, both of which are not allowed on Wikipedia. Sorry to cause any inconvenience, but I am just following Wikipedia rules. Unfortunately, the sheet music cannot be sourced. I've tried, and it is hosted on a website that Wikipedia does not allow sourcing to. And I'm not understand how "tenor to baritone" doesn't make sense. Tenor is C3 to C5, and baritone is F2 to F4, overlapping it. It makes perfect sense. Yves (talk) 20:13, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
